Her hazel eyes bore into my soul. Our hands intertwined, holding on for our dear life. We were to be punished, for a crime of love. The rules were a woman was not to lay with another woman. Same went for men as well.
It was us against the world. "Eve. I have told you that you mustn't come with me." Her soft hands cupped my cheek. "Nay Camilla. I shall follow thee where ever thee goes. That is my duty as thee wife." I said as I ran my hand through her long golden locks.
"Stop trying to speak like Shakespeare Jammie. We are running away from them. But, they will hunt us because of treason. Be ready to face anyone and anything as we leave." Camilla said as her lips brushed against mine.
"Like I said before, for you I'd do anything and everything." I whispered against her lips. Camilla pulled away and gave me a smile. Her green eyes lit up like the fourth of July. "At midnight we will sneak out. The neighbors will be asleep when we will make the great escape." I nodded eagerly and began packing my bags, alongside her.
I took my books and painting supplies with me. Camilla took her writing and camera with her. After finishing packing, our home seemed more bare than ever. Thats if you called home a place you lived with homophobic people.
Not anyone in this country seem to have an open mind. Maybe the gays next door to us did, but that was still not enough.
In the end it didn't matter. Home was where my heart resided, Camilla. She made everything feel right and exciting. Never did I get tired waking up and seeing her laying beside me. Especially when the sun would wash over her. Camilla's skin would look bronze and even look peaceful when she was asleep.
And yeah sure we had our moments of arguments, but at the end of the day I still loved her. Thats what makes a good relationship, communication is key.
"Are you ready?" She said as she took my hand and we slowly closed the door. "Its always an adventure with you." I chuckled, while Camilla scowled and slapped my shoulder. "Yes yes. I am ready. Let's go now." I said as I took her hand and we began walking down the road.
Finally, we were going to escape this hell. No longer would we live in a place of criticism but peace and harmony. My grip on Camilla's hand tighten a little. "You alright?" "Yes let's go." I said as I kissed her cheek and smiled. We walked the road to freedom, hope and most importantly, love. As long as I had her, everything was okay.
In a distance, two figures could be seen walking down the road, holding hands. Both woman disappeared in the darkness of the night.
The end.
