Parry, thrust, slice, breath, repeat.
Droplets rolled down my chest. My sword smashing against the katana of the Lynx-girl, Laura.
"A-ah!" Laura jumped back, panic in her eyes. She was very timid during combat... stupid girl. I pushed Silver Skies forward, and slapped her side, knocking her over.
"O-ouch!" She rubbed where I hurt her, then stood up, clicking her katanas together and watching as they flipped into a bow. She slung it over her shoulder and bowed, a little too low in my opinion.
"Miss Marsh! What I have told you about bowing before the bell has rung?!" Professor Croak yelled with annoyance, clicking her whip against the floor.
"S-sorry Professor..." She twiddled her thumbs nervously, her Lynx ears pinning themselves to her head. Private battles were the only time she had her beanie off and her ears out. Myself and the staff were the only ones fully aware of her species. For some reason she trusted me.
I extended a hand towards her and she shook it as the ending bell rang.
"Nice job Laura," I smiled at her, "you actually hit me this time!"
"Haha, yay!" She smiled back and hugged me. I held my breath and she pulled away, staring nervously at the ground, "I-I'm sorry! I forgot you hated hugs!"
I laughed lightly and petted her head, unclipping Silver Skies and tying a blue ribbon around my half arm.
"Don't sweat it." I walk out of the building, waving to Professor Croak."Have fun in there?" My best friend, Malakai Hills, asks, slipping from behind a corner and joining at my side.
"As much fun as you can have during training." I roll my eyes as he starts playing with a strand of my hair.
"I was thinking, to celebrate being here almost 3 years, did you want to go out to dinner with the group?" He grinned at me, his greenish-blue hair bouncy happily.
"Sure..." I pulled my scroll from my pocket and sent a quick message to Blanc-Rouge, informing him how my training session went. He responds with "Nice job Vivvy, don't go too easy on that girl though ;)"
I catch Malakai staring at me from the corner of my eye, but say nothing and continue walking.~At Dinner~
"I'll have the smoked salmon and avocado salad and a coke." I say to the smartly dressed waiter, his yellow eyes flicking around as he takes my order.
"Roast chicken and ham roll with an icy water thanks," Malakai says, his voice full of boredom.
The other five people with us also take their order, and the waiter leaves, shooting a wink at me as he steps out of sight. I hear Malakai mumble something.
"So, Violetta, will that hunky brother of yours be visiting soon?" Rai, a lanky blonde girl asks, her eyes fluttering.
"Unfortunately, no, Blanc has a life and is still training."
"What about Honey?" A ginger boy named Jem questions, his cheeks reddening.
"Tema is too old for you Jem..." Malakai laughs and wraps his arm around my shoulder.
"Don't be gross Malakai!" Little Peni Marker squeaks, glaring at his arm.
Malakai laughs again and pulls his arm away from me, I blush slightly and start inspecting my fork, it had a few dry pieces of food on it... hmmm... chicken, lettuce... oh! Parsley! That's odd!
"Miss Lace, is Silver Skies still not up for offer at the next trading market?" Lance, another boy at the table, questions, admiring my sword, which was perched at my side.
"Nope. And it never shall be." My words are dull, and unintentionally rude. Malakai twiddles his fork around, obviously insulted that Lance didn't even ask about his prized trident, Poseidon.Malakai gives a pleased burp as we all finish our meals. He pats his stomach and grins at me.
"I need to use the restroom." I stand up and brush my skirt off.
"Oh, in that case, we all have to head off, cya tomorrow Violetta." Everyone chirps, except for Malakai, who is obviously going to wait for me.
I wave to them and head towards the bathrooms.
"Pwah..." I hold my nose and step into a cubicle. The smell in here is putrid. I step out after a minute or two and wash my hands, sighing at my reflection. Loose hair everywhere, holes in my shirt, rips on the knees of my leggings... even my shoes were grungy.
I dry my hands and walk out the bathroom, my head down.
But my head shoots up in only a few seconds.
My arms are pinned to the wall.
Panic rises in my throat. It's the yellow-eyes waiter. He's licking his lips and looking me up and down, he holds my arms above my head with one hand, the other creeping up my shirt slowly.
"Don't touch her!" I hear someone yell. The waiter is thrown away from me. My legs give way and a fall to the floor, sitting up and cradling my head.
I glance at a figure with a shiny silver Trident, attacking the waiter.
"Don't you ever touch her!" The voice yells again. The waiter yells and scurries away.
I feel strong arms lift me up, carrying my like a baby.
"Vi, a-are you okay?" I stare at Malakai, his eyes full of worry.
"I-" words don't even get the chance to escape my mouth... I can't stop crying.
Malakai holds me closer and storms out of the restaurant. My eyelids go heavy, and I fall asleep.
