Cherish

Ten Minutes Before Natalie Arrived

"Derek, listen to me," I pleaded. "Don't blame, Natalie, this may not be her fault."

"You've been a vampire for less than a year, shut up. My brother is dying!"

I didn't follow the meanie into Kieran's room, just stood at the doorway with my arms crossed. "We don't know if he's dying, we only know that he is having a crisis inside himself that has made him really, really weak."

"Cherish!"

"Sorry, bro, trying to be positive."

"You two, please stop fighting. I am fine, believe me."

"I would suggest you shut up, too, Kieran," Derek mumbled. But said louder, "Unless you wanna tell us what the hell happened to you!"

"I agree, K, don't talk unless you're answering questions."

"It wasn't Natalie, okay, I made this decision. Don't be mad at her."

"She had something to do with it, though, yeah," I asked as I sat on the floor and picked at my nails. Derek was grinding his teeth in anger.

"I will not say anything to condemn her, dear sister-in-law, and you should not want me to."

"You're right, you're right." I nodded.

"I don't wanna be a cunt," Derek began, "but I will never have a heart for Natalie if this is her fault."

I sighed. "Derek, listen to my theory. I read a book on Wattpad, called The Vampire's Hidden Love. I was reading it and the main character's girlfriend Terra, she has black eyes too.

"Okay, well, not always. She starts off human, but then she goes through transition and then Lorenzo, he's the vampire, he finds out that when she goes all vampy, her eyes are black and she has double-set fangs."

"You have double-set fangs," he countered. "That means nothing."

"Lemme finish. Her transition was really bad, which basically kinda damaged her vamp goods. Maybe, just maybe, the effects of his messy turning is catching up with him."

"Doubt it, try again."

"Natalie is on her way here."

"How do you know?" Derek asked as he drew a penis on Kieran's cheek with a pen.

"I can feel her near. Please, do not scare her. In fact, I don't want her here. She can't stay, make her leave."

"Why won't you wake up, brother?" He added tiny hairs to the balls after tracing it in marker.

"I refuse to wake before I know what is going on. Malnutrition of vampires is more advanced than humans. I am healing faster this way anyhow, and its for my own good."

I left the two alone, to unlock the front door for our visitor. I had told her to stay home, she don't listen.

When the door squeaked open and Natalie's scent filled the house, Derek threw a glass cup across the room and it hit the wall, shattering. She smelled of nothing in particular and Kieran. It was off-putting knowing she smelled like someone that technically didn't have a scent.

"Stop it, Erek! I did not throw things when you started focusing on Cherish instead of getting our souls back. You do not have the right to raze hell because my woman cares for me!"

I didn't want Natalie to freak out so I told her to hang out in the kitchen, in the opposite direction of the bedrooms, and grab some pizza. Hopefully, she would get bored and go home.

"She must not really care about you if she fucking told you to stop eating! And you must be fucking stupid to actually do it!"

"I told you, brother, this was my own choice. I made it because of her, not for her. I made it because I love her. You should take notes, man. I got my girl faster than you did, and mine won't even admit she loves me."

"Fuck off, Kieran."

"Stop drawing dicks on my face, Erek."
