Mr. Alexander Wellston was walking home with his lovely wife Anita Wellston, after having a scrumptious well-done steak with a salad. Along with some wonderful peach-flavored wine that was about thirty years of history behind it. His wife had fillet mignon with a wonderful assortment of vegetables beside him. At a restaurant a few hours away from their home. Which was in a wealthy suburban area of Manhattan.

They were stopping in a small town in the country parts, they had just felt like taking a nice drive to spend some time together. It had been awhile since they had quality time, months actually! Six to be precise. Him being one of the most successful attorneys in the country, and his Anita being one of the states best accountants for one of the most wealthiest computer companies nationwide. She was home for the weekend, taking a small vacation from her touring that promoted her latest book. "Pinching pennies: How to get the most out of your money." It had sold millions.

All-in-all they were very well off financially. No health problems, no issues with their marriage...Although of course with little time for each other in the past six months, it had put a temporary strain on their relationship. But they overcame it. They had been in love ever since they met during their college years back in '87. His grad year was '93 and hers was 95'. After dating for seven years, they married in the spring of 94. Here it was they had been married for sixteen years and counting.

The Wellstons had no children, although Mr.Wellston had a burning desire to become a father. They weren't getting any younger, and it wasn't as if they couldn't afford a child by any means! He just couldn't convince Anita to go through with it. She was too happy with their life together, stemming from her fear of gaining weight. Plus her painful childhood memories of her parents divorcing. No matter what anyone told her, she felt as if she was the reason and cause for their separation.

He thought about proposing the idea, just one more time, to see if she would hear his plea once again. He may have been able to persuade jurors and judges, but he sure as hell had trouble persuading his wife to do anything! They were taking a stroll in this nice secluded park, which had a beautiful lake. Normally it was filled with people fishing or taking jogs, but today they saw very few people..How odd.

They strolled, talking about work, and their individual families latest gossip. Simply reminiscing as he had dearly missed the past few months. They truly missed having days like these, just the two of them in their own little world. Unfortunately Mr.Wellston grew too afraid to bring up the topic while they were walking, and Anita could tell that something was bothering him. She decided to ask him what was wrong once they returned to their Grand Prix.

It was beginning to get dark, and very chilly from the wind blowing. Mrs.Wellston shuddered and clung to her sweater as Mr.Wellston politely gestured her to turn around and walk back to the car. His hands lying on the small of her back.

By the time they had reached their car, it was pitch black outside. There were very few park lights out, and the air had become very nippy thanks to the lake. The couple jumped into their car giggling at a little joke that Mr.Wellston had made, and right as he began to put the key into the ignition. Was told to wait by his wife.

"Alex...Is everything okay?" She asked with concern and worry very pronounced in her eyes.

"Yes dear, why do you ask?" Mr.Wellston patiently and politely replied.

"Well..." She shuffled her seating position. "You appeared lost in thought while we have been out all day, and i just wanted to make sure that everything was alright. Is there something that you want or need to tell me?"

Alexander sighed in defeat. He could never hide anything from her fully. Well, he figured now was a better time than ever. They had such a wonderful evening out together, maybe she would listen more this time...

"Anita, I really want us to have a baby. We're both healthy, and have a very stable income. We've been together for sixteen years, I believe if we were not meant to last a lifetime...

We would have divorced by now! Yes I know our life is perfect the way that it is, but I could only imagine how much more joy we would have by becoming parents! Just think of it Anita, us having a daughter with your eyes, ....and my dimples! How much fun they would bring our parents when the holidays arrived! I feel so whole with you Anita, and I just feel like that one thing is missing! It feels like I have a beautiful puzzle with everything together, but that one piece is missing to complete our life! Not mine, ours! Anita, you would be even more beautiful! It's just...It's something that I want so bad Anita! I want it for us!"

He realized that he was ranting and stopped, waiting for her to have a negative response. He looked at Anita, and she was staring through the windshield into the dark.

"....Anita?"

She slowly looked at him.

"...Did you see that? Oh my God Alex, did you see it?!"

Alexander was confused, and also nervous by the frightened expression on Anita's face.

He looked through the windshield. All that he had seen was pure darkness in the direction of the water and the silhouettes of the trees. What else was there to see? He looked around the parking lot, but saw nothing as well. What in heaven's name was she talking about?

"Anita, I don't see anything."

"Look," She pointed ahead to her right in the direction of the front fender. "....There."

Once again, all Mr.Wellston had seen was pure darkness. Just the silhouettes of the trees, the moon, the stars, the-

.....Something about the size of a man jumped from one tree to another one in front of it.

He blinked his eyes and rubbed them to make sure that his eyes were not playing tricks on him...Nothing was there. All there was were trees swaying.

"....Did you see it? Please tell me that you saw it too! I'll know that I'm not crazy!"

He was dumbfounded! What in the world was it that he had seen?

" Anita....I'm, I'm not sure what I am supposed to see."

"Alexander Maurice Wellston don't you dare lie to me!!" Anita snapped at him, whispering. "I KNOW you saw it too."

He just stared at her and looked back in the direction of the lake and trees...And saw a pair of red eyes not so far away staring back at them in the distance.

Mr. Wellston gasped. Surely his eyes were deceiving him! Maybe it was an animal!

...No, no animals eyes glowed bright red. Especially ones like these. They were nearly as bright as his car's taillights!

"M- Maybe it's a light from the distance!" Alexander stammered, knowing that this was something much more than such.

"Alex...Get us out of here." She responded calmly, but her eyes told him that she was horrified.

Mr.Wellston quickly stuck the key into the ignition, and pressed the locking button on the doors. As soon as he had, he looked up to make sure they'd have a head start from the underlying evil ahead.

.....The eyes were gone!

Instead of feeling relief from the disappearance of those bright suspicious eyes, he began to feel even more uneasy. He turned the key, bringing the car to life and shining the headlights onto something they never expected to see in all of their lives...

.....Anita screamed as she never had in her life, so did Mr.Wellston....and it was his last.
