I was bored out of my mind while Jack and Mark watched some stupid horror movie about an exorcism - Mark's lovey dovey boyfriend picked it out. Every now and then, I could feel Jack flinching at a scene against Mark, pressing closer to him. I'm tempted to let myself take control of Mark or turn his eyes black to freak him out, but Mark could kick me out in a minute and I feel like I'm at home in his body. I can't leave, plus it was admittedly nice to feel Jack snuggling into Mark. It was warm and loving - something rare for demons to feel.

"Are you scared, Jackaboy?" Mark chuckled after Jack jumped a little again.

"...No," Jack hesitated before clearly lying. I must say, I actually like this Jack guy. He's small, seemingly innocent, and well, adorable if I'm being honest. He wasn't the type of guy I'd expect Mark to fall for, but they worked together too perfectly. A part of me is jealous over what they have, another part is glad I can feel it as well as Mark.

"Sure and I have a demon inside me," Mark rolled his eyes and Jack gave him a panicked look, he seemed upset at Mark for saying such a thing - though it was the truth and he didn't know that.

"Don't say things like that, Mark, it's scary," He pouted and Mark went to peck his lips lightly as if it were a half-assed apology.

"I'm sorry, sweetheart," He apologized properly and kissed him a bit more firmly before pushing Jack away from him gently in order to get off the couch. "Do you want to pause the movie while I use the bathroom quick?"

"Yes," Jack replied a bit too quickly, realizing his mistake and blushing deeply. "I-I mean, yeah, sure."

"Silly," Mark chortled before leaving his little boy toy behind and heading to the bathroom. He closed the door behind him and locked the door, looking straight into the mirror as seriously as possible. I knew what that meant and sighed internally. "Talk to me, Dark."

"What do you want?" I asked, seeing Mark's lips move in the mirror as I spoke. It must be weird for his physical form to betray him for me and move on it's own. Being a human is weird in general, although, so there's stranger things that have happened.

"I can feel what you're thinking. You're bored," He noted and I rolled my eyes, knowing what was coming just as he said it, "...And you like Jack. Why?"

"What do you mean why? I can't like a human? I like you a moderate amount," I argued and he snickered and huffed.

"Yeah, you like me just about as much as I like you," He jabbed back, but I didn't care how he felt about me. It wasn't in me as a demon to give a fuck. "But why Jack? Why do you like him?"

"Maybe it's because I feel what you feel or the fact that he's a vulnerable, little, alluring toy," I smirked and I could feel his urges wanting to punch me, but he couldn't while I was in his body.

"Don't think about him that way," He snapped and rubbed his face, trying to tug the stress off his skin. "How long are you staying here?"

"What do you mean?"

"You have to go sometime, don't you? When are you going to leave Jack and I alone?" He asked and I wondered why he was asking such a thing - I'd just gotten here the previous night!

"Mark, I don't have to go anywhere. You've been my chosen vessel since you were born, but of course I didn't take you over until you grew into a toddler. I can't pick another until you die, I can stay with you your entire life," I elucidated, spelling out the cause of my presence here.

"Why'd you pick me?" He inquired, trying to dig into a topic we've conversed about before.

"You asked the same thing as a child; you must've forgotten," I bitterly grumbled, not wanting to drum up a decrepit conversation. "As a demon, I have many abilities that I cannot get into with a human, but I can say that I've been able to see into the future once for each vessel I've chosen in order to determine if they're the right one."

"Did you see Jack?" He inquired immediately, undoubtedly anxious to know if his boyfriend was destined to be his forever.

"No, I did not," I waited a second to watch his face fall and to feel the sadness beginning to consume him before adding, "I didn't see this far into the future, only into your early twenties. You seemed well-built and determined, so I chose you."

"So there's a chance Jack's the one," He grinned happily, pleased he wasn't in love with him all for nothing. As a matter of fact, he was so caught up in Jack that he didn't even react to the fact that I chose him.

"Don't get your hopes up," I sighed, knowing love doesn't last according to the centuries of experience I've had in previous vessels. I didn't want Mark to jump into this with his heart bursting out of his chest, just so it could be broken - the pain of a broken heart is like no other. I'm simply glad I've never felt anything real for the mates my vessels obtained; I've felt their emotions, but never genuinely loved their partners.

"Mark?" A small voice spoke up, light taps on the door. I felt Mark smile the same time I actually felt like it and I noticed in the mirror that Mark's body was grinning like mad. I controlled my smile to tone it down a notch and make it look more natural. He tugged his phone out of his pocket and held it in one hand as he opened the door.

"Hey, kitten," He greeted the younger man, who blushed deeply in reply. "What's up?"

"You've been gone awhile, I thought you fell in," He giggled and Mark laughed a bit and gave him an apologetic smile.

"Sorry, love, I was on the phone," He excused himself, gesturing to the phone in his hand. He slipped it back into his pocket and I was impressed by how sly Mark had been, easily lying.

"Want to get back to the movie?" He asked with wide, blue eyes that not only melted Mark's heart, but also mine - well, if I had a heart.

"Of course, sweetheart," He kissed his cheek quick and followed him back to the living room, sitting on the couch and snuggling as Jack pressed play. I braced myself for the time I was about to spend being bored out of my mind watching this movie and dealing with the lovebirds cuddling.
