I had given Mark back his body and was now waiting for him to go to sleep to get the ball rolling. I have work to do if I'm going to get what I want and it all starts at night. Staying in Mark's head for so long, I've managed to block him from hearing my thoughts and came up with a plan, which was simple enough. It was boring waiting around, but there was a burst of adrenaline I was feeling, knowing what I was about to do was wrong, but it felt like I was meant to do this. As though everything in my life was leading up to this very moment.
Mark finally fell asleep next to Jack on the couch and I knew it was showtime. I took over and made sure to hide my demonic eyes, not to freak Jack out. I shook him softly and his eyes fluttered open, a sleepy smile crossing his lips.
"Hey," He groggily greeted me and I ran my fingers though his hair, giving him a small smile.
"Hey, could you help me with something?" I asked and he nodded, beginning to get up, though his body was tired. I figured we could go about this a bit faster and picked him up bridal style, making him giggle. I carried him into the bedroom and set him down on the bed.
"Mark, I told you I'm not taking care of your boner every time you get one during a nap," He laughed and I rolled my eyes.
"No, that's not what I need help with, but I mean..." I chuckled, winking as he blushed deeply. "Could you lay down? I want to do something."
"Um, okay," He shrugged and laid down on the bed. I had memorized a spell the book gave me on how to do this. I waved my hand over his eyes and he passed out.
"Anima vestra, essentia tua, mea sunt enim omnia," I murmured, the words roughly translate to english as 'Your soul, your essence, it is mine.' I watched as his chest seemed to glow and shrugged, going to the next part. 'Your soul is where mine lays,' "Ubi me ponit animam tuam."
A bit of pain erupted in my chest and I shuddered at the sensation, but it passed by fast and I immediately felt normal again. I watched as Jack's fingers occasionally twitched and went to his side, lifting his arm and dropping it, waiting for him to react or wake up. I wasn't sure what to do at this point, the book didn't say much about it.
A soft groan reached Jack's lips as his eyes opened, one being entirely black, the other a radiant green. He sat up abruptly and stretched out his arms, letting out a comedic yawn, glancing over at me and grinning ear to ear, showing off his sharp teeth. He cocked his head slightly and started laughing as though he had just seen the funniest thing in the world.
"Oh, man, you tricked that poor sucker into making me!" He giggled and hysterical tears began streaming down his face. "Mark's gonna be so upset once he realizes Jackaboy is away."
"You know Mark and Jack?" I asked, raising an eyebrow and he nodded, scooting closer to me, as if he was excited about everything that's happened.
"I have all of Jack's memories and some of yours because you gave me some of your soul and all of his," He smiled more softly and kissed my cheek. "Thank you, by the way."
"Yeah, I'm glad you're here," I chuckled a bit. "What should I call you?"
"I'm not sure, but please make it something better than Dark. I'm sorry, but that's just Mark with a D," He paused and giggled. "He has a very nice D though from what I remember of Jack's memories."
"You're not as much like Jack as I expected you'd be," I hummed, wondering how I feel about him. I liked his insanity, his humor, all while still showing gratitude. I think we'll get along nicely, but I think he'll bring out the bad in me, while I bring out the good in him. "I think your name should be Anti."
"Anti, hmm?" He thought about it for a moment before nodding and smiling again. "I like it."
"So what's happened to Jack?" I asked, frowning, I didn't want anything bad to happen to him.
"He's dormant in me just as Mark is in you. He won't be the same though because you gave me his soul. I'm his demon now though, so you have to hunt around for a way to align us within his body, you know?"
"I really don't."
"You know how you're latched onto Mark's soul, yet you have your own? I own Jack's soul and yet also have part of yours, which is meant to be my own once I have a little of Jack's to combine with it. He won't seem like a shell of his former self once our souls are untangled - it's like wires knotted together," He explained and smiled again. "I'm glad you made me, you're nice."
"And you're adorable," I countered and he blushed - something Jack did often. He's still in there, but buried deep down. I know I don't have enough time to find a way to align Anti and Jack's souls before Mark comes back, but I really don't care at the moment. All I'm focused on was the person in front of me. I want to know everything about Anti, but he also needs to figure some stuff out himself.
"It's kind of weird existing, you know? At least just suddenly existing and knowing everything. It's like I've been watching you and Jack your whole lives up until this point and now I'm a real, living thing," He laughed a bit and scooted closer to me, making our knees touch. He took my hand in his and looked me in the eye, smiling. "Thank you for giving me life, Dark. I think we're going to live a strange life together."
