I'm Alice, I don't know how long I layed here in the ash and dust, but it must've been a long time. My joints made that disgusting popping noise when I sat up and went into a coughing fit.
I figured one of my arms was broken, I don't know what from, but I found a back pack and gathered anything useful. Maybe a change of clothes was in order too, I had a large gash across my chest and my dress was bloody.
I looked out the window, and let me say, the destruction was much worse than expected. Our lovely fifteen story apartment was crumbled down to a pile of rubish and all the surrounding structures looked the same.
I'm only ten, my only survival instinct was to sit and wait for help, so I did. Then cried, and dug through the remains of our kitchen and found a loaf of bread, three water bottles, a box with a cake in it, a few oranges and other miscellaneous fruits and vegetables. I shoved the water, fruit, and vegetables in my bag. Of course being a child I instinctively grab the cake, and dig through a pile of boards and furniture pieces for a fork.
After I finished a piece of the cake I went walking, though my sandals where torn up, I went about a fourth of a mile before becoming very tired. Suddenly where I sat down started to wiggle and I had no time to get up before crashing down into someone's basement. What I found was unexpected.
