Sylvie was feeling down. Antonio had just given her a list of reasons as to why they'd never work out. She thought that they had had a connection. She sighed, slammed her locker closed and grabbed her bag. Maybe a drink, or 10, at Molly's would make her feel better. She sat on her regular stool and motioned for Gaby to pour her a Sea Breeze. Gaby handed her a glass and went about checking on other patrons. Sylvie was 3 Sea Breezes in by the time Gaby got back to her.
Sylvie pulled out her wallet to pay her tab. "Hey, thanks Gaby... I have to head out. Early Zumba class in the morning."
"Sylvie... I saw you talking to Antonio."
"Oh! God... I should've said something. I... I just didn't want you to feel weird about it." Sylvie paused and thought back to her conversation with Antonio earlier that day. "He's not into it, anyway."
"Not into it?" Gaby laughed. "Puh-lease! His expression... when he was talking to you you? Reminded me of elementary school when he would look at our cute babysitter, completely smitten."
"Well... according to him, we're in different places and it would never work."
Gaby poured a shot. "Look, I love my big brother, but I have spent 20 years ignoring his advice when it comes to anything personal. Trust me. It's the best way to do it." Gaby downed the shot and winked at her.
Sylvie thought about that. "Okay... how do I go about that?"
"Well, he generally comes in her after shift when he doesn't have the kids."
"Okay...."
"He'll probably be in after our next shift." Gaby smiled slyly. "Don't stress so much... he'd be stupid not to go out with you."
"Thanks, Gaby."
After next shift...
Sylvie changed into a sexy black number and headed to Molly's. She was going to take Gaby's advice. She liked Antonio, and she wasn't about to let him say otherwise. Well, at least not until she'd had a chance to say her piece. She took a deep breath and walked in. She spotted him quickly. He was in her spot. She walked over to him. "Hey."
Antonio tried to speak, but Sylvie said. "No, I already listened." She went into all the reasons he'd given for it to not work, and explained how they could make it would. "Nobody likes microwave pizza." She concluded. She paused. "Now, with all of that out of the way, are you gonna ask me out? Or should I ask you?"
Antonio smirked. "Can I buy you a drink?"
Sylvie sat on the stool next to him. "Yes, you may."
Antonio pointed to his beer and put up two fingers. Herrmann nodded and brought two more bottles.
"Thank you." Sylvie smiled.
"You talked to Gaby." Antonio concluded.
Sylvie choked on her beer a little. "Huh?"
"Sylvie, most girls... women... they'd have run for the hills after what I'd told you."
"I'm not most girls... or women." Sylvie responded. "I'm determined."
Antonio laughed. "Determined? Is that what you're calling it?"
"Look, Antonio... I've seen the way you look at me when you think I don't notice... hell, so has Gaby!" Sylvie blurted, quickly covering her mouth. She regained her composure. "I..."
"Sylvie... I... I was just not wanting to hurt you."
"Antonio... I said it... I've had my heart stomped on a bunch of times... but I also know that if you don't take that chance... we'll never know if this could work."
Antonio nodded and took another swig of his beer. "Well, that is very true." He paused. "You hungry?"
Sylvie nodded. "Yeah."
Antonio grabbed his wallet and pulled out some cash to pay the bill. He pulled on his jacket and helped Sylvie from her stool. "Let's grab some dinner. Whatta ya feel like having?"
Sylvie blushed. "Um... pizza?" She went with the first thing that popped into her head.
Antonio laughed. "Sure thing. Pizza it is." He offered her his arm.
Sylvie took the offer and together they headed out into the night.
Herrmann looked to Otis. Otis watched as they left. He turned back to Herrmann. "You think Dawson knows?"
Herrmann shrugged. "I ain't about to tell her." He went back to wiping glasses.
Otis contemplated telling Gaby, but figured she'd figure it out eventually and went to clean tables.
