This was a request from a reader... I was requested to write Cruz being jealous of Antonio being with Sylvie... so, here we go!

Sylvie sighed. Chess was definitely not her thing. It was never going to be her thing, but she needed to connect with Diego and it would seem the only way that was chess.

"Yo, Brett... I thought we'd solved your chess issues?" Joe Cruz walked up to her.

"We did, but I want a game to last more than 10 minutes." Sylvie groaned. "I really want to be able to connect with both kids... Eva, she's a piece of cake... I just talk to her about music, movies or make-up... or listen to her talk about boys... Diego... he's a tougher nut to crack."

Cruz was stuck. He wanted to help her, but at the same time, he didn't. While he was thankful for the short time they'd shared together, he was jealous of Antonio. He didn't know what Antonio had that he was lacking, but whatever it was, it made Sylvie want Antonio. He sat on the bed next to her and gave her a couple more pointers that he'd purposely learned in case such an occasion would arise that would result in her asking for his help.

"Thanks, Joe." Sylvie smiled. "You're a great friend."

"Anytime." Joe smiled back and headed to the kitchen to see if Otis had supper ready.

Sylvie focused back on her game. Antonio had the kids again this weekend and she was determined to get a little more out of Diego this time than one or two sentences.

Joe looked back one last time and was questioning why they broke up

Joe looked back one last time and was questioning why they broke up.

"Yo! Cruz!" Otis punched his shoulder. "You there?"

"What?"

"Where's your head at, man?" Otis asked.

"Just thinking."

"About?" Otis was a little worried at this point.

"Otis, what does Antonio have that I don't?" Cruz asked.

"Uh... Kids... a gun... Brett."

"I know... I'm just trying to figure out where I went wrong with her." Joe leaned against the counter.
