Sorry that it's a little late for New Year's, but it's here. Has ZERO relation to my Christmas Story...

After all of the chaos of Christmas, Antonio was thankful to have a quiet week off

After all of the chaos of Christmas, Antonio was thankful to have a quiet week off. He had gotten to spend Christmas with Sylvie and the kids, and his parents with Gaby and Matt. It had been one of the best Christmases ever. Now, he was hoping to have New Year's Eve with Sylvie alone. He just wasn't sure if that was going to be possible. Sylvie hadn't heard back from Chief Boden if her furlough request had been approved. He was praying she got it. They'd both asked for the week off. Stone hadn't been hesitant to give the week to Antonio, considering Antonio had spent the last month fixing a lot of problems in the DA's investigator's office. There had been a lot of changeover but it was worth it. He had never really thought about leading his own team, but he knew Voight had been right. He also knew that Gaby had been right when she told him the change would do wonders with his home life. He'd been able to be around the kids and have them more frequently in the past month, not to mention the extra time he'd gotten with Sylvie. He sighed and checked his watch for the 10th time. He wanted to know if she was okay. He wanted to know if Boden was going to give her the time off. He headed out of his office and bid a good New Year to his team before stopping at Stone's office.

"Antonio." Stone got up to shake his hand. "You've done a hell of a lot in the last month, than I've seen done the rest of the year."

"Thanks." Antonio smiled. He was proud of the work he did.

"Excited for the week off?"

"You have no idea." Antonio laughed. "I just hope my girlfriend got the time off too."

"I've met Sylvie, she's a firecracker."

"I wouldn't have it any other way."

"Well, enjoy the time off. You've earned it." Peter smiled.

"Thanks, boss... you got any big plans for ringing in the new year?"

Peter shrugged. "Not sure. We'll see... I may try Molly's big party."

"Gaby's been planning that with Stella since before Christmas... it should be a good one."

"How about you?"

"Not sure... depends on what Sylvie feels like. To be perfectly honest, I only want to spend time with her."

"Sounds like someone's in love." Stone poked fun at Antonio.

"Won't deny that. I may just be willing to take the next step with her."

Stone arched an eyebrow. "Marriage?"

"See you in the New Year, boss." Antonio smirked as he walked out of the building. He pulled his toque down over his ears. The weather was frigid and the forecast wasn't calling for anything more than bitter cold fronts coming off the Lake. He got in his truck and was really wishing his remote starter would've worked. He let the truck warm up and decided to call Sylvie.
