I woke up and lazily teared the covers off my body as I sat up to go to the bathroom. I groaned as I realized what day of the month it was. I quickly noticed a drop of blood that landed on the white tiles of my bathroom. Relieved that I hadn't started bleeding until now. I got a pad out and did my thing.
I got up, washed my hands, face and brushed my teeth before walking to grab my phone off the nightstand.
Mark : I'll come over in about 10 minutes.
I didn't respond, going over to my cupboard where I kept my heating packs, placing it on the under side of my shirt. The heat instantly relieving the intense riot that was happening.
Needless to say, I wasn't happy about getting my period. I sighed and walked down the stairs and into the living room where I sat, clutching my stomach.
Soon, the doorbell rings. I lazily got up and opened the door emotionlessly. "Hey." I mumbled, smiling weakly at the boy who stood outside my door. He walks in and closes the door. "Ah." He says as he notices the rectangular patch on my shirt.
"Sit down, I'll cook." Mark says with a reassuring smile as he walks me over to the chairs in the kitchen. "No. I want to help." I said, shaking my head. He sighs and nods.
I take out some bread, cheese and ham. "Do you have any avocados?" Mark asks. I shrug. He opens the fridge to finds some at the bottom. "Alright. Sit down and cut these up." He says, handing two of them two me.
"Mark. I'm not sick. I'm just on my period." I laughed, standing up to get the cutting board and a knife that was meant for peeling apples. "I know.. I just don't want you to do things that might initiate cramps and stuff." He says with a frown.
I chuckled and shook my head as I began cutting up the avocados. He grabs a pan and sprays it with some olive oil before placing the slices of bread on it, allowing for both sides to brown.
I hum a soft tune while I took out the seed out of the avocados and gently removed the fruit itself from the skin. I cut it up into thin slices so it wouldn't be as bulky-looking on the sandwich.
"Shall we just have the thin ones on the sandwich then the uncut ones on the side?" Mark asked, gesturing to the avocados. "Sure." I said as I put a piece of avocado up to his mouth. He smiles and takes it from me, his lips touching my fingertips ever so slightly. "Woah. It's really fresh." He says as he flips over the bread unto the other side.
I go to fridge where I grab about two handfuls of grapes rinsing them out before placing them into a bowl. Mark starts making the sandwiches, layering the cheese, ham and avocado.
"Hmm.. I think we make a pretty good team." He says, raising a hand for me to high five, which I do. "Let's eat." I took out a pitcher of water and two cups.
I bit into the sandwich, a crunch going off before the melted cheese hits my taste buds. I moan in delight, my eyes automatically shutting. He chuckles at my reaction, tasting it for himself.
Soon after eating, we stayed in the kitchen washing up whatever it is we used. "What do we do for the rest of the day?" He asks as he places the last few dishes up into the racks. "Can we stay in bed and watch movies?" I asked, lifting my eyebrows. "Sure. What kind of movie?" Mark asks. "Animation!" I cheered, smiling widely as I shook his arm.
Mark looks down to me and laughs. "Okay. Okay. Lead the way." He says, pushing me forward gently. I walked up to my room and went over to the shelves my the television that I barely used. Putting in Alice Through The Looking Glass.I smiled as the movie began, crawling under the covers with Mark. He held his arms open which I was pulled into, using his chest as a pillow.
