...Where am I?

I thought as I found myself lying down. I blinked my eyes, only to see everything black again.

"Mī-chan." A familiar, sweet voice could be heard.

I turned towards the voice and saw a little girl of ashen hair laid beside me. She wore a casual white strap dress and footbed sandals that matched with it. It was Mahiru.

Oh, I see. I must be dreaming again.

Soon after that thought, my dark surroundings turned into a familiar scenery. A scenery I could never forget.

The soft, warm and green lawn.

The clear, cloudless sky over us.

There she was, looking my way and smiling charmingly.

Ah, that smile of hers.

"What are you thinking about?" She asked in curiosity, holding my hand.

"...That you look very pretty today too." I muttered out.

Despite her pouting face, I could tell she was about to try teasing me.

"Then...am I not pretty on other days?"

Surely, I might've fallen for this and panicked back then. Instead, I fondly caressed her cheek.

"You're always pretty, Mā-chan."

She seemed elated at my words, as she leaned into my hand and snuggled close to me.

A gentle and soft wind came and I could hear the grass rustle in the breeze. As I stared silently at Mahiru's relaxed face, an inner voice nagged me.

Stop clinging to these memories.

It's just a dream.

Even so, I want to indulge myself in this momentary warmth.

Because her voice, her gestures—everything is so precious that I want to reminisce all of it.

Suddenly, Mā-chan shortened the distances between our faces. It startled me, so I removed my hand on her cheek.

"I still think that Mī-chan is much prettier and cuter." She said.

Even though she had often said this to me, I didn't think the same.

"...No way."

Unlike earlier, this time she really seemed to be bothered by my words and puffed out her cheeks.

How could I possibly be cuter than that?

"Oh, Guren is coming over here!" Her amber eyes lit up when she spotted a dark-haired boy who ran to this direction.

His clothes consisted of a white shirt of short sleeves, umber suspenders holding up his matching trousers and chocolate brown shoes in his feet.

"Sorry, did you guys wait for a long time?" Guren asked while rubbing his neck.

"Nope. We arrived not long ago." Mahiru replied as we both sat up.

"Oh, is that so." Guren looked at me with his deep purple eyes.

As soon as our eyes locked with each other, he simply took a seat on my other side and held my hand that was free.

We stared up the blue sky for a while. Mā-chan tightened her hold on my right hand and I returned her grip.
