Her eyes squinted at the glaring big star that shone up in the sky.

The sun was slowly becoming intense.

Summer had begun.

"...I should have just skipped training." Mikan mumbled lowly as she felt herself burning up at the heat. She was now standing at the school's training grounds.

Although her hair was fastened into a small ponytail, it wasn't of much help. Sweat beads were all on her face and what's more, she forgot to bring a water bottle to maintain herself hydrated. All of it made the heat more unbearable.

No matter how many times summer came, she couldn't get used to the hot weather because the dizziness would easily come over her. For that very reason, she disliked going out during this season.

Mikan felt someone approach her from behind.

"Miiiii-chan."

She slapped the hand that was about to touch her and glared at the person, who turned out to be Shinya.

"Try to touch me again and I'll kill you."

A few laughs could be heard from the white-haired male.

"You're very sensitive today~. Is it because of the heat?" Shinya asked.

"You don't say, it's so freaking cold out here." Her sarcastic remark caused him to laugh again.

From the corner of her eye, she spotted a group of girls who were scowling at her and whispered to each other.

'If you've got something to say, just say it to my face.'

If it wasn't because of the exhaustion, Mikan would have spat those words at them.

Ever since the invasion, she had been receiving more of these scornful stares as half of her classmates had changed.

Many first-years had died because they were not strong enough. There were 600 students before, but now 180 of them were left. The number of classes was also reduced to five.

Despite the change of classmates, the students of the Imperial Demons kept on doing the same thing and jeered at the low-class branch families. They would boast how they were far more superior and worship the Hīragi Clan. As for Mikan, it was the usual routine, so she paid them no mind.

Not so far from her, she caught sight of Guren and Mito chatting among themselves. She wasn't sure because of the distance, but it looked like Mito's face went all red at something he said. Mikan couldn't help but be curious about their conversation when the red-haired girl began to argue with him. Just then, Mito punched Guren. Perhaps she was annoyed by his laid-back behavior.

Suddenly, the brunette's view became blurred, and her legs began to wobble a bit in a daze.

"...Oh crap."

Her head was spinning, and she felt like fainting anytime soon.

However, someone splashed cold water onto her face, drenching her from head to neck. It was quite refreshing, so Mikan let out a sigh in relief and savored the feeling.
