It was morning now. I finished my chores and just decided to go to bed early. I woke up early this morning do to a terrible stomach ache.
I climbed out of bed and decided I should try to eat something. I pulled on my boots and went downstairs. I grabbed Jack's saddle and I laced it on him.
I stood up and quickly pulled myself up onto him. I grabbed the reins and we were soon out of the barn. I had left a note for my foster mother so she would know where I was.
I don't start Saturday chores until noon, and it was just a little after nine thirty now. I rode into the woods behind our house. It was a cloudy day once again, but today there was no snow falling from the grey clouds.
It was cold. The wind blew my hair all over my face, and I had to stop so I could put my hair up.
I continued on to who knows where, when I heard a loud scream, startling me enough to fall off my horse. I fell to the cold ground with a loud "thump". I sat up and looked around. Jack was gone. I swallowed the lump in my throat and looked at my surroundings.
I had no idea where I was.
"Jack?" I yelled.
I couldn't recall what direction he had went. I stood up and began to brush off all the snow from my winter coat. When I began to walk, I heard a loud twig snapping. I thought it might be Jack and I walked over to where the noise came from.
Here I was. All alone, in the middle of the woods. I had no idea where the only thing I loved had gone, and I was left to find him by myself.
The wind picked up and it made the pine trees sway from side to side. The only noise I could hear were the sound of my feet crushing leaves and twigs as I continued to walk. A group of birds had flown over me in a panicky manner. I shrugged it off and continued to search.
I stopped in my tracks when I heard another branch snap, this time much louder. I looked all around but saw nothing.
"Jackson?" I yelled once again.
I sighed when there wasn't a response. A few moments later, I heard a loud whinny.
"Jackson! Where are you buddy?"
I ran straight through the woods. I saw Jack on the ground and I ran towards him and kneeled down on the ground beside him.
He had a claw mark going across his white hoof. I began to examine it. It wasn't that bad of a cut.
"Where'd you get this cut from?" I asked him giving him a pat on the stomach gently.
I looked up and I met eyes with something that I never expected to see.
"White wolf."
It was staring back at me. It looked prideful as it stood there. It's muscles were built well and his red eyes stared straight into my blue ones.
I felt my heart skip a beat but I didn't feel worried. It was weird. The wolf closed its eyes and I watched as bones started to bend in and out place to reform knew ones.
I looked away. The sound was terrible enough to listen too. When it was all over I looked up to see a handsome guy around my age with no clothes on. I looked away and screamed.
"W-what just happened?!" I asked quietly.
I was now freaking out. That calmness I felt earlier was replaced by fear.
"Mine." I heard him growl.
I thought he was talking about my horse so I bent over and hugged Jack. He didn't take his eyes off me. He walked towards me and I scooted closer towards Jackson.
"T-This is my horse." I managed to stutter out.
The guy turned his head to get a better look.
"I know that." He chuckled.
His voice was soft and husky. I swallowed the new lump in my throat and looked up to his face. He was now wearing shorts.
"Then why did you say 'mine'?"
Confusion flooded my face and he smiled and sat down on the cold ground next to me. He leaned closer to my ear, but I didn't scoot back.
"You are mine." He whispered in my ear.
He leaned away and watched my reaction.
"I-I'm yours?" I asked.
How the heck am I his? Last time I checked you can't own someone unless you are their legal guardian.
"My mate." He growled.
I scooted back. He gave me a look I didn't really quite understand. He scooted closer to me and I scooted back again.
I ignored him and stood up. I tugged on Jack's halter and he got up at well.
"Come back with me. You belong with my pack and I."
I ignored his comment and pulled open my saddle bag and grabbed my first aide kit. I grabbed the bandage wrap and wrapped it around Jack's hurt leg.
I climbed up onto my horse. The guy walked towards me and sat his hand on my leg. I tried my best to ignore the tingles I felt.
"Please come back. If you don't I will find you and take you back myself."
I looked at him. He's very persistent.
"I have to head back."
He nodded.
"Okay.." he paused. "You are mine, and I will come back and take you to our pack."
I saw the look of seriousness on his face. He meant every word he said.
"Okay." I whispered.
I turned my horse around and took off in the direction I came from. As I came back up to the house, I climbed off.
I put up the saddle and fed all the animals. I walked out of the barn and saw the white wolf's head in the beginning of the forest. He howled and turned around and ran off.
