Revolution: Holiday Party

It's finally December, and that means this month I'll be writing more holiday based oneshots. This also means I may offend someone by using certain holidays such as Christmas, but I just want to start off right now and say I mean no offense whatsoever, and usually, I'll try to make up a holiday. I know nothing about most other winter holidays as I've been raised in a family that celebrates only Christmas, so please don't be offended if I screw up or something.

Thanks, and enjoy!

"Yugi!"

Yugi smiled as the door to Kaiba's home was opened for him and his yami, and they greeted Mokuba as they entered. The small Kaiba had convinced Seto to host their annual holiday party, and with much bugging and bribing, he had finally agreed.

"Guys you're late! Everyone else is already here!" Mokuba ushered the two into the main room that looked very festive and warm, which was ironic of Kaiba's cold personality, and saw that indeed, their friends were already there.

"Hey Yugi! Hey Atem!" Their friends greeted them all at once, and Yugi ran over to them while laughing.

"Hey guys! It's been awhile we've been able to enjoy ourselves."

They all laughed a bit. Lately, it had been one catastrophe after another, and everyone had just now gotten time to relax.

"Hey look it's Kaiba!" Joey pointed over to the doorway the oldest Kaiba was emerging from, finally deciding to leave his work and enjoy himself a bit.

"Obviously, mutt. I do own the house."

"Why I oughta-"

"Joey now isn't the time!" Téa tried playing peacemaker, but eventually threw her arms up and stormed out in her jingle-belled, fuzzy sweater glory.

Atem stared at the two bickering, and eventually, Tristan jumped in the fight as well. Yugi was trying to settle things down, but ended up taking Kaiba's side, saying Joey didn't have to say that. Atem just sighed and walked out, trying to find Téa and see what she was up to. Maybe she could explain this whole "holiday" thing to him.

He padded silently through the halls with his fuzzy-sock feet that Yugi had insisted he wear with how cold it was, but he was embarrassed. A king wearing fuzzy socks with patterns of kittens with mittens was not what he considered ego-boosting, but he didn't refuse his aibou, and simply gave in.

"Atem? What are you doing this way?"

Atem turned to face Téa, he must've not heard her as he had been in thought.

"Looking for you, I guess. I was wondering if you could explain some of this holiday stuff to me." He really had no idea what this holiday was about, as celebrations in Egypt weren't like this at all. At least, what he remembered.

"Oh, sure! Basically, the holidays are a time to come together with family and friends, and enjoy the time together, and to simply enjoy their company. Some holidays are also based around religions, but since there are so many holidays in the winter, people normally just say happy holidays. There isn't one set thing you do, it's more of what you choose to spend this time to do."

Atem was very confused by this, but nodded to agree anyway. What he got out of the explanation was that friendship and family were a big part of this holiday thing, but not much else he caught.

"Another question Téa, what's that?" He pointed up to something attached to the ceiling of the hall.

"Hm?" She looked up and stared at it wide eyed. "Er...it's...mistletoe..."

"Mistletoe? What for exactly? It's not harmful, correct?" Atem stared up at the plant with confusion and wonder swirling in his eyes, and glanced over at Téa who's face was flushed. What got into her?

Oh no, oh no! I really like him and all, but he doesn't like me! Wait... he doesn't know, let's just leave!

Téa turned to Atem and answered, "I'm not sure exactly, but it's a holiday thing. We should probably get back to our friends." She grabbed his hand and nearly dragged him back to the room, and Atem was nearly certain that had been a coverup, but he didn't know for what.

After they reached the main room, everyone had settled down a bit. Kaiba was sitting in his chair, reading some sort of book, while Tristan and Joey were fighting over something silly. Yugi and Ryo were talking about Duel Monsters and games, and Mokuba was trying to get his brothers attention. Duke was sulking in a recliner, probably mad nobody here was falling for him.

That left one of the smaller couches open, so Atem and Téa made their way over to it. After sitting down, Joey and Tristan got up and yelled.

"WOO! WE GOTCHA! NOW LOOK UP!"

Téa already had a slight idea, but looked up and started yelling at Joey and Tristan.

"Guys..?" Nobody answered Atem. "Hello? Guys? Anyone?" More bickering.

"HEY! WOULD ANYONE CARE TO TELL ME WHAT THAT IS?!" Now people were listening.

"Heh, you don't know? It's mistletoe! If you and another person stand under it, you two have to kiss. Holiday tradition."

Now it was Atem's turn to blush slightly.

"Uh... can't you... just not do it..?" He didn't dislike Téa, he had in fact grown feelings for her, but didn't want to ruin their friendship.

"No! We'll hold you two here until you do too!"

Atem and Téa looked at each other, Atem blushing more than Téa at this point. What was he even supposed to do? Did he leave? Would that ruin their friendship if he backed out? Would he ruin it if he went through with it? This was about as complicated as him and Yugi having separate bodies(FOURTH WALL BREAK).

He decided it wouldn't do to hide his feelings, so taking a deep breath, he turned to fully face Téa. Looking up into her eyes, he whispered, "Look, I'm not sure what to do, but I really like you."

Téa's eyes widened, but she slowly smiled and leaned in so they touched foreheads. "Well, I'll have to teach you then, won't I?"

And they kissed.
