School was going well, my teachers have been very nice so far and I had a friend in every class. I glanced down at today's schedule, it read;

Period 3: Algebra

Period 4: Chorus

*Break for 1 hour lunch*

Period 5: Graphic Art

Period 6: Latin

Period 7: English

Period 8: Gym

I had already been to my first four classes so it was time for lunch, I grabbed my bag and went to the cafeteria. I walked into the first one that was there when the school was first built and saw Peanut waving at me to get my attention, I sat down and looked around. People were walking in or sitting down at empty tables with their friends. One particular person caught my attention, it was a girl with long, black hair cut like mine with slanted bangs. She was extremely tall and bony, she looked like a female version of Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. She had snake bites and a septum piercing like me, she also had an eyebrow piercing and gauges with a few more ear piercings than me. She was wearing a red Sleeping with Sirens shirt, grey skinny jeans, and red converse. One thing that caught my attention specifically about her were her eyes, they were a beautiful bright blue and possibly the most amazing eyes I'd ever seen. She was very attractive in my mind. Did that make me gay?

"Who is she?" I thought. I decided to ask my sister, "Who is that girl that just walked in?"

"Who?" She asked. I pointed her out by describing her outfit.

"That's not a girl." Peanut said back.

"Yes it is, she doesn't have an Adam's Apple." I responded.

"No, that's Zachariah. He's transgender." she said back. I had heard of transgender people before, they're people who don't feel comfortable in their gender assigned to them at birth because of their sex and feel comfortable in the opposite gender.

"Oh, now I feel like a jerk." I mumbled.

"It's okay, you didn't know." Peanut replied.

"He's sitting by himself, should I ask if he wants to sit with us?" I asked.

"That's not the best idea," Peanut's friend Maria said, "he's got social anxiety because last year all the seniors bullied him for being trans and now he won't talk to anyone who isn't in GSA."

"What's GSA?" I asked.

"It's Gay Straight Alliance, it's a club where all the LGBT and straight allies go to talk about pride in themselves," Maria stated, "I've been to a couple of meetings and it's a good club to have here since a lot of people are homophobes."

"So you guys don't hate them?" I questioned wondering.

"They're the coolest people you'll meet and obviously not because we'd be throwing food at Zach like those people are if we did." My sister replied. I looked over, there were people throwing food at Zach, he just kept his head down and it looked like he was crying. I was suddenly filled with anger at this and shouted to the group of guys throwing food at him.

"Hey! What the fuck do you think you're doing to that guy?" I waited for a response.

"You mean girl, the only guys here are the ones born with dicks!" One of the guys shouted back while getting up. He looked like he wanted to fight and at this point I was grateful I had taken tae-kwon-do as a child. This guy obviously didn't care if I was a girl because he swug at me. I dodged it and grabbed his arm, I twisted it to the point where I'd be breaking it if this weren't a warning.
