Sunshine Barbie- that's what they call me but that is not my name. My name is Nathalia Laurent some people may hate me but some people may not. I was born in the upper class although my mother was just 16 when I was born, my biological father in the other hand ran off and leave my mother when he knew she was pregnant. Also my grandparents left my mother when she got pregnant but returned when they knew how successful my mom has became but I never forgive them and give them attitude when mother's not around. Anyways I'm very known for my long legs, blue eyes, blonde hair and for my popularity. I was one with the most wanted clique group in our school. Our group has only one rule- "prominent are for prominent" it means we can only date famous hot guys or else you'll be kicked out from the group and you will become one of those students who are not prioritized by people.
"Miss Laurent! I know you were busy helping your mother on her fashion line. I'm sure we'd be willing to extend your due date on your project." Ms. Brown, my Science teacher told me. The whole class complained and argued about my project due date being extended.
But the truth is I'm sick of this special treatment. I got home by myself I refused riding my mother's limo with her all-smile butler. I got on a cab with all the students looking at me. Some of them were whispering and were shock of what they saw. It seems like they will never understand me not even my friends. The crowd goes wild seeing me ride on the cab but I caught this guy's eye... Okay, this is not a romantic part. I know his name, of course I know him he almost become my step brother but no one ever knew, his name is Charlie. I remember our first meeting.
"Son, I want you to meet, Olivia Laurent and her daughter Nathalia." Mr. Fernandez introduces Charlie to us when we were just 10. I gave him a huge smile and held out my hand to shake his. Instead he just stared at me as if I were a criminal. How would I forget those mysterious dark brown eyes? Mr. Fernandez's wife died long time ago and they may not know it but Charlie and I were too smart for a 10-year-old brain. We knew they were engaged because of my mom's ring and we even caught them kissing in Mr. Fernandez's backyard. But those days didn't last long it only lasted for a month and they broke up and we drifted away we were this close to a family. Still, I would not forget Charlie's introverted personality he even read "The Notebook" when he was just 10! His light brown hair and brown eyes is completely remarkable. We never talked since we were 10. Our first and last conversation became like this:
"Nattie, remember I never shake your hand?" Charlie said looking at me. We were on my kitchen eating the spaghetti my nanny made for us. I never expected him to start the conversation and called me "Nattie"
Instead my 10 year-old squeaky voice said "Yes."
"It's because I just recently touched Kitten's poop." He said bursting off with laugh. Kitten was his dog, his mother gave it to him when she was still alive.
That was our last conversation.
In the past 8 years, we never talked not even a "Hi" but sometimes we would catch a glimpse with each other in school and looked away as soon as possible. He was my best friend.
The next day
"You're going to my party tonight?" Annie my best friend said. She's the leader of our group although some say I should be but I think she's really serious about this monarchy in our school of her being the queen. Her signature wavy brunette hair always matches her natural green eyes but she overdone it with make up. Annie is way better of all the people in our clique my mom is friend with her mom. She maybe stagy but lies deep inside is a beautiful heart she even donated her surf board to the street children when she was 11 and I would laugh every time I remember it.
"Yeah- I'll try to catch up." I said while getting my books from my locker. I saw a post-it and it reads "Slut" I crumpled it and throw it down the floor.
