riley smiled kindly at the librarian as she entered the library. she put her things on a table in the deepest corner of the library and disappeared amongst the shelves to find a book to borrow.

she danced around the shelves, reading the summaries until she finally found a book she was going to borrow. riley made her way to the front of the desk to borrow the book. she returned to her seat and decided to do some homework. as she was looking for her chemistry book, she heard a figure plop down into the seat next to her.

thinking it was maya, she spoke, "hey maya, have you seen my chemistry book?"

"you dropped it when you ran away from me," she heard farkle's voice.

her head shot up from her homework. she looked at farkle with wide eyes. she regained her composure so that he would not suspect a thing.

"farkle! wow, i thought you were maya. thanks for the book." she tried to grab her book from his grip but he wouldn't budge.

he brought the book closer to his chest, away from riley's grasp. "before that, let's talk about the reason you lost your book in the first place. you were avoiding me."

riley mentally slapped herself. "no, farkle. i was not avoiding you." she reached for the book which he now held over his head far beyond riley’s reach.

riley stood up, trying to get her book. "tell me the truth, riley."

"that is the truth! what more do you wa-WOAH!" riley lost her balance, falling and taking farkle with her. she landed on top of farkle with a thud. she groaned and reached for her book, wanting to take it and flee from that place.

unfortunately for her, farkle noticed and flipped her over, pinning her to the floor. she groaned. "what do you want, farkle?"

"the truth."

riley considered telling him the truth for a mere second but pushed the thought out of her head. she had been avoiding farkle for days and she wasn't going to give it all up just because he had her pinned against the floor.

she bit her bottom lip as she thought of an escape. her eyes lit up and she wrapped her legs around farkle's waist and used all her strength to pin him against the floor.

she had to distract him somehow. riley leaned down and purposefully trailed her lips against the skin on his neck and all the way to his collarbone.

"uh, r-riles, what are y-you doing?" he stuttered.

she kissed the skin on his collarbone in response. she bit and sucked the skin on his collarbone as her hands reached for her book. farkle placed his hands on her hips just as she grabbed her book. he let out a soft moan that made riley want to stay but she used all her willpower to get off him, grab her stuff and leave.

she knew that even if he caught up with her, what she just did was enough to create some distance between them.

he caught up to her. he grabbed her by the arm and pulled her to an ally. at first, riley was scared but when she saw the familiar mop of dirty blond hair she felt relieved. he pinned her against the wall.

he leaned in so close, her breath hitched. she felt his hot breath as he whispered in her ear. "you're not going anywhere until you explain what the hell you did back there and the truth about why you were avoiding me."

"for the love of jesus, i wasn't avoiding you!"

farkle leaned in and she pushed him away. the only way to go was to tell him the truth. well, he could do with half truth.

she pulled him down with her as they sat on a crate. "first off, what i did in the library was to distract you. sorry if it was uncomfortable."

she shot him an adorable smile. "it's okay. now, are you going to tell me about the whole avoiding me situation?"

"well, i have a crush on this guy at school and i was so nervous that i would do something weird around him that i ran the other way. he was behind you."

farkle looked annoyed. "oh, you could've just told me."

"i know, i'm sorry. i didn't want anyone to find out." she looked down at her feet making farkle feel guilty.

he just forced her to confide in him when she was clearly not ready. she got a text and stood up. she wanted nothing more than to just curl up in bed and watch the fault in our stars. she wanted to have a good cry. she looked at farkle.

"i kinda just want to be alone for a bit, if that's okay with you."

"yeah, yeah, of course."

he thought he was too clingy. "it's my anniversary with smackle, anyway. i've got to go."

as he turned around to walk away, riley called his name. "whatever happened back there will not be mentioned to anyone. not smackle, not lucas, not zay, not even maya."

farkle nodded and riley warned him again. "i'm warning you, farkle. if this gets out everything will be destroyed."

farkle left and she sat back on the crate, thinking about everything that just happened. maybe farkle was just protective of her. maybe farkle and her weren't meant to be. maybe it was time to move on. just as she was contemplating on doing her homework, maya called.

"riles! where have you been? you've been gone for more than an hour!"

"i was just leaving."

"did farkle come talk to you?"

"no, he just returned my chemistry book. why?"

"oh, no reason."

"hey, peaches. isn't matt kingsley throwing a house party tonight?"

"yes, why?"

"get ready at my house?"
