Niall POV

It’s been 36 hours and Alex still hasn’t woken up.

“Hey…” I heard a deep, raspy voice coming from the door, “I brought food.”

“I’m not hungry.”

“You haven’t eaten for two days.” He simply stated.

I ran a hand through my hair. “I said, I’m not hungry.”

And I meant it.

How could I eat when Alex was in this state?

“Niall.” Harry sighed, “We can’t lose you too.”

“What do you mean lose? Nothing’s happened to Alex.” I began shouting, “She’s okay, she’s not dying. She’s coming back.”

I had hope.

I had hope, for her, to comeback.

“But if you decide to not eat, she won’t come back.” Harry placed his baby voice on. “She won’t come back because she doesn’t want to see you this way.”

I frowned, “Harry, I may have lost sleep, but your kid talk isn’t going to work on me.”

He sighed in defeat, “here.”

He shoved a coffee and a cheese bagel into my hand. “Please eat.”

I shook my head – no, “how can I? How can I bear to eat when Alex is here – in hospital?”

“Niall, as much as you care for her, you must try to at least eat.”

“But I can’t… I can’t eat, Hazza. Why can’t you understand that?” I choked,  tears streaming down my face.

Harry placed the food on the table beside him before pulling me into an embrace, “trust me, I care for her, just as much as you do.”

“This is probably Karma taking its toll.” I mumbled into his chest.

He rubbed my back – soothingly, “She’ll wake up, I know she will. She has too.”

I felt tear drops on head and I looked up at Harry.

He was crying.

And that’s when it hit me. “Oh my god.”

“What?” Harry wiped his eyes furiously.

“Y-you li-like her?” I widened my eyes, “you – you and her, oh my god – that’s why she asked where you were? That’s why she went outside that night… To find you.”

It all made sense, now.

“Niall, I have feelings for her. I’m not going to lie,” Harry paused to blink away the tears in his eyes, “but I had no intention to.”

I nodded - dismissing him.

I could understand.

Alex had a unique charm to her.

She was friendly and caring, cute and innocent and mysterious and dark.

I mean, who wouldn’t like a girl like that?

“Let’s just both, not talk about this now.” I sighed – I really didn’t want to stress any further.

“Niall, nothing’s happening and nothing will – ”

“Harry.” I stopped him, “not now.”

He nodded, “please eat. It’s the least you can do for her.”
