Chapter 4

"Will you stay with me?" She asks keeping her grip on me.

I look at her and I feel pity for the young thing so I nod my head. She turns and once again crawls slowly in her bed. I stay where I am for a few seconds making sure that she doesn't injure herself any further. Once I know she is fully on her bed I start to make my way back under the bed to watch the door as she sleeps.

But I stop when I see her little fragile body start to shiver. Her thin blanket and clothes are doing nothing to stop the cold of the winter from seeping into her bones.

I hesitantly slip into the bed, waiting for her to tell me to get out, she doesn't. Then I slowly wrap my long body around hers and cover her with my dark thick wing. Her body quickly stops shivering with all of my warmth engulfing her. She is soon hugging my arm like a stuffed toy.

I look down at the little child and sigh. "Sleep well child. There is nothing to scare off nightmares like a nightmare."

I lay my head down on the pillow and watch the door in front of me, daring that low life devil to show back up.

He never does.
