You were chilling in your bedroom at the house you shared with your roommate Mark, scrolling through your social media. Mark and his friend Tyler were out grocery shopping and his other friend Ethan was recording, meaning you were all by your lonesome. You heard Ethan's fervent yelling as he recorded and giggled to yourself, he was always so cute. Not that you had ever really told him, he was Mark's friend that had been staying with you guys while he moved to LA.

Suddenly, your door was flung open and Ethan rushed in. "Y/N, I need you for a video."

"Uhm, okay?" You tucked your phone into your pocket and followed him into the recording room.

"I'm back! With a girl! A woman!" He yelled to the camera, and you raised and eyebrow at him curiously. "Y/N is going to teach me how to impress a woman!"

On the screen you saw the game Social Interaction Trainer and burst out laughing. "This is the video you needed help with?"

"Yes, this first date is fucking impossible!"

"You look at her when she talks, don't look at her boobs when you talk, and when it gets awkward, cross your eyes and she'll laugh."

"So that's how I impress women! Cross-eyed-ness!"

You snorted, rolling your eyes. "Yes definitely."

"You heard it here folks, real advice from a real woman on how to impress women!" Ethan said bombastically, presenting you glamorously. "You can resume your scrolling, thanks Y/N."

"No problem, Ethan." You smiled to yourself as you left the room to let him finish recording.

Only a few minutes later, you were sitting in the living room waiting for the other boys to get home so you could finally eat something. With a sigh, Ethan walked out of the recording studio, clearly not seeing you as he muttered to himself. "Can't ask her on a real date so I ask her how to video game date. Fucking stupid. Can't just ask her to get some fucking Panera mac n cheese or some shit with you."

Who was he talking about?

You quietly stood up to walk to the kitchen as he opened the fridge, and grumbled at the empty shelves. "Hey Ethan." You said nonchalantly, reaching around him to grab the milk. Feeling him tense up at how close you were, you smirked. Maybe he was talking about you?

"Hey Y/N. Thanks again for helping with the video."

"No problem, I like teaching people how to video game date." You reused his words, and he looked at you with wide eyes, but you continued. "Unfortunately, I'm not so good at the whole actual dating thing."

He laughed nervously, grabbing two cups. "Me neither."

You poured out the drink for each of you in silence, neither quite knowing what to say. So you decided to push it further. "I can't even remember the last time I was asked on a real date. Like, to Panera or something, their mac n cheese is really good."

This time there was no confusion as the whether you'd heard him or not. "You... heard me."

"Yes."

"So wait, do you actually want to go on a real date with me?"

"Yes."

Ethan grinned, and you could only smile back. "You guys are so awkward!" Mark suddenly complained from nowhere, and you whipped around to see him and Tyler with armfuls of groceries. "Now would you two help us?"

You leapt up, grabbing the bags from Mark's hands, but you still couldn't wipe the smile from your face at the prospect of your date with Ethan.
