One more flip.

Stick the landing.

Ankle wobbled a little bit, but you're fine.

Smile at the judges. 10. 9. 9 1/2.

Look for him in the stands.

And there he was, cheering you on as he'd been for the past four months at all of your gymnastics meets. Your wonderful boyfriend Ethan.

You were dismissed from the mat and immediately ran over to where he was waiting by the bleachers. He staggered as you knocked into him full force. You threw your arms around his neck, nearly shaking with excitement.

"That awesome, Y/N!" Ethan congratulated you, kissing your cheek.

"Not as awesome as your beam routine last weekend." You pointed out, remembering when you went to his gymnastics meet a week ago.

"I didn't get that good a score."

"Because Nancy Carlyle was judging, she's a hardass." You snorted, that woman was a notorious tough scorer for the local gymnastics. "So, my place? Parents are in London, meaning we get the theater room!"

After every competition, you and Ethan would have a date night at one of your houses to just relax and enjoy each others company.

"Actually, Grandma Nestor has formally invited you over for dinner tonight."

"That sounds fantastic." You walked out of the gym hand in hand towards the car Andrew was waiting in.

At his house, you were welcomed by the family before Ethan dragged you up to his room. You two didn't even play video games this time, just wanting to be in each others arms. You were sat between his legs on his bed, his arms firmly around your waist, and his hands playing with your fingers as you looked over the photos adorning his wall. Over the months, pictures of you two together had been added to the collage of him and his other friends but you'd yet to meet the colorful bunch.

"Ethan?"

"Yes?" He softly kissed your neck.

"Tell me about your friends." You turned to look him in the eye, and he smiled at your question.

"Okay, so this guy with red hair, is Mark." Ethan reached to take down a picture and point at each person in turn. "He's a video game nerd like me. And that's his girlfriend Amy, she's like the mom friend. Here's Tyler-"

"Ooh, I know him!" You exclaimed, recognizing the curly-haired boy with glasses.

"Really? How?"

"The first day we met at your gymnastics practice, I encountered him at the front of school. He told me where to find you."

"Well then I guess I owe him one." Ethan kissed your forehead before continuing on. "These two are Bob and Wade, they're weird and cool. Oh and the boy with green hair is Sean, he's an exchange student from Ireland."

"We have a student like that at my school. Her name is Signe, she's here from Ireland on an art scholarship."

"That's really coincidental. Maybe we should introduce them?"

"Maybe." You mused, looking over the picture again. "When am I going to meet your friends?"

"Hmm, I don't know." Ethan thought for a moment. "Mark is having a get-together next weekend at his house. Do you wanna come with me?"

"Yes, that sounds great." You couldn't hold back your grin as he pressed his lips to yours again and again.

Next weekend couldn't come quick enough as you rifled through your closet five times over for a good outfit. You wanted Ethan's friends' first impression of you to not be that of a snobby Dreathford Prep kid that you knew they already thought you were going to be. Finally deciding on the most casual outfit your mom would let you own, you threw on a little bit of makeup and ran down to the foyer where you knew Eddie was waiting.

"Do you need a ride, Y/N?" He offered.

"Ethan just got his license and insisted on picking me up." You explained, and the chauffeur smiled at your response. He knew about and supported your relationship with Ethan, although you knew he didn't like the idea of you lying to your parents about it.

A knock on the door alerted you to Ethan's arrival, and you said your goodbyes to Eddie. Through the whole car ride, your leg bounced nervously and you habitually tucked your hair behind your ear. Ethan's hand found yours, holding it on the console. At his unspoken support, you breathed out in an attempt to relax.

At Mark's house, Ethan calmly led you up to the door and knocked on it. It was nearly immediately opened by the half-Korean boy you recognized from the pictures, Mark. His red hair was a bit longer and more faded then in the pictures, but the cheery smile was the same.

"Hey Ethan!" He greeted your boyfriend, opening the door widely for you both. "I see you brought someone."

When the others sitting on the couch saw your entwined hands, they all leapt up. "Ethan! Introductions! Now!" The blonde you recognized as Amy insisted, and you could feel Tyler looking at you as he tried to remember where he knew you from.

"Right. Uhm guys, this is my girlfriend Y/N. Y/N, these are my friends. Mark, Amy, Sean, Wade, Bob, and Tyler." He gestured to everyone of them as he went through the names.

"Hi." You waved weakly, feeling their stares on you.

"Wait, you're the girl that was looking for Ethan after school a while ago, right?" Tyler suddenly yelled out, putting the pieces together. At your nod, he continued excitedly. "So I was right, you two are compatible!"

"What?" Ethan cocked his head.

"Sorry I didn't recognize you at first, Y/N, you look different without your uniform on."

"Uniform?" Mark echoed questioningly.

"Ah yeah, I go to Dreathford Prep." You answered quietly, bracing yourself for their outrage and brash assumptions of you based off the other snobs at your school.

But instead, they were friendly and still cheerful as ever. "That's really cool!" Sean said, and you could definitely hear the Irish accent.

"Uh thanks." You smiled, letting Ethan guide you by the small of your back to a seat on the couch.
