The flares were still there but because of it becoming morning, the light wasn't nearly as bright.
As we got closer to the area the people from the circle pointed down and made signals with their hands explaining to stop.
I looked at Zayo and she shrugged, I looked at the road to see a huge, thick yellow painted box on the ground.
We stopped right in front of it and waited. At first, nothing happened and it was silent. But before long the ground began to shake. Under us mad mechanical noises and the road slanted. It should us a passage underground.
"Radical...." Zayo whispered and drove down. I bit my tongue and held my comments back. Honestly, this place gives me the creeps!
What kind of city has a freaking road that just happens to have a passage way, UNDERGROUND!
the lights on the car were turned on and we drove down a slightly wet tunnel.
The light from above began to shrivel as the road began to go up. Sighing, we continued to blindly drive when we heard the screams.
They were faint so it couldn't have been inside the tunnel. Which made me look back. Being in the middle of a city has its downsides people, let me tell you.
I'd never seen so many mutants attempt to get one pray more than this. Still, the road continued to close up. A red and blue light flickered down throughout the tunnel and sirens could be heard.
"Holy SHIT we're gonna die!" I screamed, making the curse word slightly louder. Zayo stomped on the gas peddle and floored it.
I looked around and realized how big and wide the tunnel actually was.
Like our truck, another truck, and a UPS truck fit in this tunnel side by side!
Soon people flooded out of the cars and towards the jammed road? I'm not sure what it was, it was pretty much a glorified door.
Men, women, and teens who looked our age or younger shot at the mutants. Little by little the mutants backed off. Some were relentless so as the trapped road? I don't know, closed the screeches of the creatures could be heard. The splat and crack of limbs breaking of falling off could be echoed through the walls.
It was finally secure and we only had a minute of relief before all those guns? Yeah, pointed right at our freaking faces!
"Step out of the car! Leave all weapons!" A male voice called out to us.
Zayo took all her weapons and moved to open the door. I held her arm to stop her and gave her a dagger. At first, she was hesitant but after pleading with my eyes she nodded and slipped it in her boot.
I slid it up my sleeve and hopped out. The people's faces looked curious and slightly afraid.
Them? How on earth could they be fueling afraid? We were almost eaten and now we're with total strangers who have all guns, pointed at us!
"Search them." The male in front of me said. He sounded like the same guy who told us to come out. He looked to be in his early twenties. I'd say 23 maybe? He was towering over me and had a strong figure.
Not to where he was overly buff but just enough to have abs. He hadn't shade in a couple of days, stubble was on his face. It was black, which matched his wavy hair. It fell just above his deep brown, almost black eyes.
Looking into them, I shivered but stayed firm on my ground.
All too quickly a girl grabbed Zayo after finding her dagger. Without a thought I let mine slide out of my sleeve and grasped it.
I held it to the man's throat and growled at her, ignoring the gasps and guns being cocked.
"Touch her and it swear his blood will be all over these walls in a second!" I called out.
The girl looked at him and her pupils dilated. From her second guessing, I assumed they were romantically involved, although he looked at her.
His pupils did not dilated.
She released her and I stepped back, a little dot of blood was shown on his neck from where I had the tip.
I put my dagger down and he rose his up and moved to attack me.
I dodged and he jabbed for my side. With a gasp and immediate stickiness I knew he had got me. Still, I held my ground and let my mutation do its thing. Just like that, it healed.
He stared at me and he let his guard down. Which was a bad move because I jumped up, landed on his back and held my dagger to his throat.
"A lot more than a tiny dot will come out of you now dick." I mumbled in his ear. He tried to fight me off and I moved to slice when I heard a voice.
Zayo froze as well and so did everyone else.
"What is going on here?!" A familiar male voice called out. My head was spinning and dropped off the man's back. He quickly grabbed me and held my arms like I was being arrested.
Zayo was by him and stuck the knife by his side and dug slightly. He winced but stayed strong.
"Vikki, Aaron what the hell?" Tuesday voice said, genuinely surprised.
All I heard was Zayo's gasp and I looked up. To see a slender but masculine male with sandy blonde waves pulled on his hair.
This boy, no, this man looked so familiar. Still, he was too blurry to see and I was going in and out of consciousness.
"Zayo...Kaison...." the voice called out in surprise. Mumbles could be heard and I pulled out of the man named Aaron's gripped and fell to my knees.
They came to help me up but I just leaned against the car. My eyes were closed and I wasn't sure if I was even looking at them.
Before I passed out, they needed to know one thing.
I slowly lifted up my hands and put all my fingers down.
Except the middle ones and mumbled, "Be safe Zayo...you...and..Aaron...suck my dick..." and that's when everything got dark.
