Y/n has been very conflicted lately, that I can tell. She barely ever comes around anymore and sometimes comes late to our meeting spot at the park. Plus, she's a lot more aggressive than usual. I know her- everything there is to know. We've been best friends since forever and although she thinks of me as I brother I see her as way more. I love her and not in the platonic way.

I adjusted my position on one of the monkey bars at our usual spot, bringing my bag clothes. It was getting darker but I couldn't go home until I knee she was safe. She usually came by this way when she was going home. Seeing her approach, I jumped down from my spot, "where have you been?"

"Stuff." She replied while coming to a stop and knitting her eyebrows at me. "What are you still doing out here?"

"I was waiting for you."

Y/n rolled her (color) eyes at me, god I love those eyes. She always said how they were dull but I didn't see it that way. I always thought they were hella beautiful. "You don't have to." She seemed very distraught and warn out by the way her legs were pulled apart and her arms were hanging by her sides lazily.

I smiled, "but I want to."

"Whatever." She scoffed and looked down at the dirt, then around- anywhere that wasn't at me.

I couldn't help but stare at her, remembering something she said when we were younger.

"Please, y/n I love you!" I selfishly declared with my knee planted in the dirt.

She rolled her eyes and smirked back at me. "Hm.. I'll marry you if. If.."

"If?"

She was silent for a moment, trying to think though snapped when the idea came to her, "if you grow a hole hand taller than me." She said while raising her hand over her head to show the amount I needed to grow.

"What are you looking at?" Y/n asked while sizing me up, and grabbed the buckles of her book bag while walking away.

I grew that much taller than her a long time ago. I wonder when she will notice. I smiled and walked after her, draping my arm around her shoulder.
