________As the cool spring air hit your exposed ankles, you looked up to the Gallagher standing on the stairs with a bag on his shoulder and a hard to read look on his face. Your best friend since practically forever, leaving you like this and you couldn't even try to make him stay. Because making him stay would be throwing away the one thing he could do in life. So you faked a smile, "hey."
"Hey." Carl responded, a forced smile on his face as he took a few steps down.
You stared at eachother for a few moments, not sure what to say. If you were brother and sister, a hug would be appropriated. Couples usually kiss but you weren't a couple. "Do I just stand here or do I hug you?"
Carl released the breath he'd been holding and laughed, awkwardly walking over to you and locking you in a short hug.
"Your an asshole for leaving." You spoke into his shoulder, feeling his body tense.
He pulled away, unsure of what he was doing. "I'll see ya, Y/n."
"See.. ya..." you mumbled, feeling the loneliness to come. As you watched Carl grow further from you, you opened your mouth to say what you've been meaning to say for a while but never got around to it. "Carl!"
You screamed and he turned to look at you, almost halfway down the block.
"I.." hesitating, you thought about your next words carefully and waved it off instead. "I love you! Okay, I'll see you when you get back. Bye!"
"Nasdrovia!" All that could be heard in the Alibi was the sound of drinks clinking and screams of happiness. You were currently celebrating Frank surviving another situation. It was amazing how the Gallaghers survived anything thrown at them which is why you loved them so much. You downed another shot before your boyfriend of two months came by and gave you as passionate kiss.
"What's on the menu tonight?" He mumbled, kissing the sides of your jaw and down your neck.
You mockingly hummed at him, pretending to think and came to an answer. "Nothing. I'm swinging by the Gallaghers to help Ian with a... thing he needed." Lying right through you teeth, you knew you had to get away from Julian at some point. He was barbaric and not the barbaric that was flattering that kind that just crossed the line on so many levels.
Julian pulled away from you, tilting your head towards him in which you raised your eyebrows at him. However before anyone could say anything, you received a text from Fiona about a party.
'It's a surprise. Come over, we're throwing a party!'
"Whose that?" Julian asked, looking down at your well lit phone screen.
"It's Fiona." You answered, scrunching your eyebrows in thought of what the surprise might be. Throwing a party like this on short notice was obviously like the Gallaghers but they knew nothing about the element of surprise. "I gotta go." You quickly said, picking up your jacket and leaving before he could say more. Thankful you got out of there on time, you rolled your eyes with a sigh.

As you approached the Gallagher household, you looked over to the short male wearing a uniform of sorts. Carl was back! You ran over to him, hopping into his arms bridal style as he carried you off into the sunset..
Or so you thought.
You remained still, about ten feet away, not sure how to respond to his being back. His hair looked so neat and tucked back, the uniform not suiting him as well as his everyday clothes but it was still him. Instead of netting his gaze, your eyes trailed down to the tight hold your converse had on your feet, fumbling around with your thumbs because you were too nervous to say anything at all. Questions ran through your head, like if he missed you dearly or of he hardly thought about you like you thought about him.
Carl rubbed his sweaty palms against his thighs, not sure what to say either. Until he did, and spoke out casually. "I missed you." He spoke, staring at your head that was tilted down.
Your eyes jerked up at him, a little surprised at his confession, cause, he was Carl, since when did he have feelings?? All you could do was stare at him, your eyes flickering to everything around you but mostly how he looked so sophisticated, which was unlike him, your lips twitching at how to respond. You weren't usually shy, in fact you were as shameless as everyone else in Chicago but Carl was different. He saw right through you.
Fiona popped her head out the door before you could say anything, a big grin on her face, stopping the conversation from going any further. "Y/n, you're here! Come on up, we got beer!" She exclaimed and you smiled at her, nodding your head.
As you walked up the stairs, you could feel Carl still staring at you but you wouldn't let him have the satisfaction of knowing it affected you... he'd get too cocky then. "Sorry I'm late, I missed the train after I got your text."
"Its fine!" She waved it off, handing you something to drink.
But you could only drink so much having had a couple at the alibi, so after about two hours of seeing people, you left your bag on the couch and snuck out to the porch while everyone was busy partying. You pulled out a lighter and lit up a cigarette, taking a couple puffs, your eyebrows furrowed in deep thought.
"So no hug?" The cigarette was snatched from your grasp and you looked over to see Carl, the corner of your mouth twitching from acknowledgment.
You took a deep breath, slightly shaking your head, "its not that I'm not happy your back, I just don't know what to say. What do you say?"
"While I was gone, after you said you loved me, was that true?"
"Of course," you smirked, nudging him with your shoulder, "who else was I gonna annoy."
Carl smiled, taking a hit. "Hey, Y/n?"
"Wha-" he interrupted you with a kiss, and naturally, you kissed back.
