That afternoon, Tessa walked into the small restaurant not too far away from campus, where she was to have lunch with everyone else. All of her classes were finished for the day, and she was grateful that afterwards she able to unwind and do whatever she liked. Tessa walked into the restaurant, and quickly spotted Clary and the others. She was the last one to arrive, and took a seat in the only one open, which was beside Clary and unfortunately across from Will. They all said hello, except for Will who only stared at her, emotionless.

"How was your first day?" Clary asked her as everyone else spoke.

"It was alright. You didn't tell me Will would be in my Lit class." Tessa replied.

"He was the person I told you about who was in the same program as you." She chuckled. "Was he bad?"

"Awful." Tessa said, chuckling a bit as well.

Clary sighed. "You'll get used to it."

"Why is he like that?" Tessa questioned.

"He's been like that ever since his father died when he was fifteen." Clary replied. "It's actually really sad."

A rush of sadness went through Tessa, and she looked up at Will. He was speaking to Jace, and it was the first time she had seen him not look annoyed and angry.

"It is." Tessa agreed.

"Will, Ella says hello and that she misses you. I talked to her today." Cecily piped up.

Then, and Tessa could barely believe it, a small smile appeared on Will's face at the sound of the girl's name. She had to blink a few times just to make sure she wasn't seeing things. Will looked about a million times more beautiful when he smiled, which Tessa didn't even think was possible.

"Who's Ella?" She found herself asking.

Will looked at her for a second, and then smirked. "My girlfriend."

He had a girlfriend? She thought he didn't date? To her surprise, Tessa felt the slightest, tiniest bit of disappointment run through her, but just as fast as it came, it was gone.

"Oh." Was all she said.

He smirked wider. "Kidding, she's my older sister. Gosh, don't look so sad, princess."

"My name is Tessa." She replied.

"Well I don't want to call you that, and you don't like it when I call you Tess either, so you have to pick, princess." Will said.

"Tess it is then, I guess." Tessa muttered.

He leaned back in his seat, smirking, and he winked at her. Tessa hated the way she felt herself blush, and quickly tore her gaze off of him. She knew that he was doing this on purpose to make her blush, and she didn't like it.

"Do you have a boyfriend, Tessa?" Isabelle asked curiously.

She shook her head. "No, I don't."

"Well you have you seen anyone that you might be interested in?" Cecily smirked.

"Yeah, kind of." Tessa smiled bashfully. "He's in my Lit class. His name's James."

"Aw, not me? I'm hurt." Will teased.

"I wouldn't like you even if my life depended on it." Tessa glared. "You're so mean and rude to me."

"I'm rude to everyone." He spoke as if it was no big deal.

Will then leaned forward towards her, just as everyone else began talking again, and smirked.

"You'll like me one day, Tess." He whispered, looking her straight in the eyes. "You won't be able to get me out of your mind. Just wait."
