Some years went by, Dominick married Lady Valmont and became the third (and hopefully final) Mrs. Dominick Blackwood. Samson was introduced into the family and officially became Trinidad and Tavit's brother. After a year or so, Trinidad gave Lady Olivia a chance and found that he was right, she was a little strange for his taste. She kept scrutinizing Delaware in everything that she did and he didn't like that. He watched from the corners of the halls as she watched Delaware do her work. He didn't appreciate her snooping. He thought about telling his father about it but he knew that he loved her and it would be a futile attempt to try and sway him now.
He decided to tell Tavit about it but he didn't really understand. So the only other person he could tell was Sullivan.****************************
"What is it young master Trin?"
There is something strange about my new mother. he wrote.
Trinidad had found out that writing caused less stress on both him and those trying to understand him and was happy to do that rather than be deemed stupid.
"What's wrong with her? She seems perfectly fine to me. A little harsh on us servants but..."
She keeps watching Del with beady eyes.
"That's her job, Master Trin."
Not in a good way. he said, hitting the paper with his quill to emphasize the fact.
"What do you want me to do? I'm just a servant."
Never stopped Del. he wrote with a face.
Sullivan frowned. "Delaware is an immortal woman who has her whole life ahead of her. I think she has all the time in the world to do what she likes."
Trinidad thought he heard something and turned swiftly to find Lady Olivia staring at them.
"Damn..." he said, Sullivan smacking him in the shoulder for the cursing.
"What did you say young man? About Delaware?" she asked again looking at Sullivan.
"What about her, ma'am?"
"Don't fool with me, servant!" Olivia growled, grabbing Sullivan by the shirt. "Tell me what you know of her. You something about her being immortal?"
"Y-y-yes! She's immortal... She don't die."
"She's a witch?"
"No ma'am. Nothing like that."
Trinidad acted fast and tugged on Olivia's skirts. She looked down and he pointed to what he wrote.
She can die if you kill her.
Sullivan gave her a look but Trinidad narrowed his golden eyes at him. He knew what he was doing.
"An immortal, huh? Sorcery, witchcraft! I shant have those practices in my household! I will go to Dominick about this!"
Trinidad ran off to find his father before Olivia did.**********************
"And you've got everything that you need for your journey to Brighton?" Delaware asked as she packed his trunk.
"Yes. I have everything that I need and more..."
The door opened and Trinidad ran in, huffing and puffing.
"Little One-"
He began to write as fast as he could on the paper as Dominick and Delaware watched him in concern. He finally turned it to Delaware and she read it.
"It says that Olivia overheard him and Sully talking and now she thinks I'm a witch? Really? That's old fashioned..." she said, scratching her neck. "It also says that he told her that I can be killed."
"Why did you say that, Trin?" Dominick asked.
I had to. She might really hurt Del.
"He's right... I've noticed that she is a bit superstitious and seems like the type who's family passed down the nonsense of witches and wizards around. She's really see me as such too... Dominick, you must act like you know nothing of me and my ability to not die."
"But-"
"Promise me that one thing."
"Yes."
The door burst open and Olivia came in, sweating profusely.
"Olivia..."
"That... that woman is a witch! A sorceress! She schemes with the Devil!" she yelled, pointing at Delaware.
Delaware blinked at her with her violet eyes at her. "I beg your pardon?"
"You are a witch, madam. A bonafide dealer with the Devil."
"I don't know the Devil, sorry..." Delaware said with a laugh.
"Don't play coy with me! I know you're a conspirator!"
"Olivia, calm down. She's not a witch or anything. What's gotten into you?"
"I overheard your son and that Sullivan boy talking about how she was immortal. Only those who sell their souls to the Devil can be immortal. But she can die; Trinidad said she could."
"Um, if I may, milady... Do you have any proof that I am an immortal? I mean, is there some sort of classification that you've heard of and have witnessed?"
Olivia didn't like being made a fool of in her eyes and so she grabbed the knife that was on the cart that was left over from lunch. She plunged the knife into Delaware's hand and she screamed in pain.
"What is wrong with you woman?!"
"Olivia!"
"See! She mends! She must be condemned!"
Delaware looked at Dominick and he gave her a helpless look. He wasn't sure what she wanted him to do and she glared at Olivia.
"Madam, I think that your irrational thinking has gone far enough. To accuse me of something so petty and outdated! Have you no shame!? How are you going to convict me of something so outlandish?"
"When I show them how you are able to regenerate like that, they will definitely kill you."
"Or will they use me as an experiment?" she said with a look.
"Either way, you will be out of this place and out of my sight. I don't trust you and I never have!"
"Well, madam, when you convince the authorities of your atrocities, then I will be happy to go to court for a trial. Until then, I suggest you keep your thoughts to yourself. Milord, have a good trip to Brighton."
Delaware left promptly and ran toward her room, not realizing that Trinidad was behind her.
