At first Klaus didn't like Stefan, but that changed quickly when he saw that Stefan was a Ripper. Niklaus actually became Stefan's fan, it intrigued him that Stefan wanted to know the name of their victims, and one day Stefan showed him the wall of his apartment and was filled with names.
Klaus and Caroline started to go daily to Gloria's so the four of them could pass time together.
One night Klaus and Stefan were in the bar drinking and Niklaus was open up to Stefan about his past, which was a odd thing to see because Niklaus usually just talk about that with Caroline.
"They're jealous. Your family wants you dead because they can never be what you are." Stefan said.
"What? An abomination?" Klaus asked because that was what he felt about himself. How could he not? That was how Mikael treat him, even when he was just a kid.
"No. A king." Stefan said, making Klaus smiled and Stefan laughed.

"Look at us. Two sad orphans." Klaus said joking about themselves.
They eventually looked at Rebekah who was looking at them, even if was talking with Caroline.
"My sister fancies you, you know" Klaus said.
"Mmm!"
"But... I should warn you, Rebekah doesn't do anything half-speed, and that includes falling in love. So just be careful. She's totally mad." Klaus said and they both laughed.
"I appreciate the advice."
"And when the point comes where she inevitably leaves you... She can't help it, it's just who she is. Don't let your heart do anything stupid."
"You know what, you're a good friend, Nik. I'm glad I met you." Stefan said honestly and raised a glass to Niklaus.

Klaus and Caroline were in a table and Klaus was looking at his sister dancing with Stefan, his new best friend.
"They look cute together, don't they?" Caroline asked with a smile.
Niklaus just smirked but quickly faded away because he felt something, so he looked around. A moment later, bullets started flying all through the room. Stefan and Rebekah crunch down and decided to hide behind the bar. Stefan picks a bullet, noticing it wasn't abnormal bullet.
"They're using wooden bullets. They know." Stefan said
"That means he's here." Rebekah said more to herself, knowing that all of what was happening was her fault.
"Who? Who's here?" Stefan asked and quickly they heard Klaus call for his sister and walking over to them.
"Rebekah! Came on, we've got to go sweetheart." Klaus said making Rebekah get up and Klaus just grab her by the arm.
"What the hell is going on?" Stefan asked confused.
"Stefan!" Rebekah yelled.
"Go!" Klaus said making them walk away without even looking behind and with all the rush, Rebekah didn't noticed that her necklace was missing.
Stefan notices Rebekah's necklace lying on the floor and before he picked it up, Klaus interrupt him to talk with him.
"Stefan. I'm sorry but the fun has to end here."
"What at you talking about?" Stefan asked confused.
"You must forget Rebekah, Caroline and me. Until I say otherwise, you never knew us, Stefan. Thank you. I had forgotten what is like to have a brother." Klaus compelled Stefan and then vamp speed to where was Rebekah and Caroline.
"Let's go!" Klaus said but Rebekah doesn't move.
"He'll be here any second." Rebekah said, refusing to believe that Stefan was like the other men she been with.
"Do you want to die? We've been found. We need to move." Klaus said
"Not without Stefan."
"Stefan's not coming. We have to disappear. He'll draw too much attention. Let him go." Klaus said, making Rebekah see that Stefan wouldn't come because of him.
"What did you do?" Rebekah asked almost crying and Klaus just grabbed her arm.
"Came on. We don't have time for one of your tantrums."
"I don't want to run anymore, Nik!" Rebekah said while getting off his grip. "All we do is run. I want to be with Stefan."
"Fine. Then choose. Him or me." Klaus said and she kept herself quiet. "That's what I thought. Get in the trunk. Let's go."
"Goodbye, Nik." Rebekah said when Niklaus was walking over to the trunk, making him stop and when she was about to go back inside the bar to find Stefan, Klaus vamp speed to his sister and daggered her.
"NO!!!" Caroline yelled.
"Caroline we need to leave now!" Klaus said and made her go to the trunk.

In the bar, the police was confiscating the alcohol and put it in boxes when a man approached Stefan.
"Hey, kid. Chicago P.D."
"I'm not afraid of you." Stefan said.
"I'm not here for you. Have you seen these two?" Mikael asked Stefan, showing a drawing of Klaus and Rebekah.
"I've never seen those people in my life." Stefan said.
