He walked up to Emerald, who was on her own again, having finished her brief conversation with Ruby about what Haven was like. Her hair was starting to have a mint green tint to it again, and Mercury wondered if his hair was turning grey.

Mercury brushed her hand, and felt the mental link unlock. Are you okay?

Emerald nodded. I just need to keep the illusion up. It's hard when I'm talking to Ruby though, for some reason. Then her eyes widened. Her eyes! The power in her eyes saps all illusion!

Mercury's own eyes widened. What? He thought for a moment, then took her hand. I'll talk to her so you don't have to, then.

Thank you. She looked up at him gratefully, and he smiled. Any time.

Emerald broke the link as they came to the entrance of the village that Haven was in, and Nora pumped her fist in the air. "All right! Made it to Haven!"

Emerald clapped her hands. "Finally! I can't wait to be back at school!"

Mercury rolled his eyes at his partner's conjured enthusiasm, going with his own character. "I can, Jade. Everyone can. You're too energetic some times."

Emerald tapped his nose teasingly. "You like it."

Jaune stepped up to the two of them. "If you don't mind me asking, who are your other teammates? Will we see them?"

Mercury nodded. "Yeah. Salmia is out of town right now, visiting family, but you'll definitely see Ryker."

Emerald giggled. "Ryker never really leaves this town. He just hangs around Haven a lot. I wonder what he'll do when we graduate?"

Nora jumped into the air. "Cool! I can't wait!"

A smirk played at Mercury's lips. She had no idea who she was talking about.

At the entrance to Haven, Emerald pretended to steal something out of Mercury's pocket, and walked up to the guards at the entrance. They moved to stop her, but she giggled and held up a pair of fake I.D's. "Silly, we're students here!"

The guards nodded slowly, and moved aside, a slight green tint to their eyes.

Mercury went up to the guard on the right and smirked where Team RNJR couldn't see. "Can our friends come in too? They want to speak with the headmaster."

The guard nodded again, and let RNJR through. When Ruby passed Emerald, the mint-haired thief brought her hand to her head briefly, then shook it off.

No students were in the courtyard, except for one. When Emerald saw him, she waved. "Ryker! Come say hi to our new friends!"

The boy got up from the bench he was on, coming over to stand by them. "Hello. I'm Ryker."

He flashed his smile he had been practicing and shook Ruby's hand. "Would you like to spar with me? I've been needing some training."

Ruby looked unsettled by his appearance, and with good reason. Emerald had only changed Tyrian a little, turning his hair blond and shortening it. The same maniacal light hung in his eyes, and his smile wasn't ever genuine.

Nora jumped up. "Sure! What do you fight with?"

Emerald cut in. "I think you should find out as we go. I know a place that will be isolated enough for us to train."

Ooooh, Tyrian's here everybody! Our favorite maniac.
