It had been days and I had little time in the morning I would train then go straight to the lab with Howard. We had grown close he was my new best friend I even called him howie now he didn't mind and I've adapted to his careless flirting but he respects I'm not interested. Today I would be joining Peggy to a training course that Steve was apart of we were looking for the person in which our secret project would be tested on. It was a hard choice for anyone we don't even know if the super soldier serum will work. I sat in the off road car next to Peggy watching the men run in formations past the car, poor Steve was far behind I felt for him I really did when stood next to his fellow soldiers you could not see him I wrote notes on my board for consultation later with howie. The car stopped near a poll holding the American flag "Men who ever retrieves the flag from the top gets to ride back with agent carter and dr hart am I clear"a lead soldier yelled I looked at the poll Steve had no chance "this is going to be interesting" I mutter to Peggy we both watched as countless strong men tried climb the poll not succeeding."the flag has not Been caught in 17 years"the lead commander says they continue to try there leader taunting them, "Ok men enough fall in line" the leader shouted Steve caught my eye he ignores his orders approached the flag poll un clips it pulls out the iron rod at the bottom of it and lets the poll fall to the ground grabbing the flag and giving it to the leader before jumping on the car with me and Peggy I smirked at him before looking at Peggy who eyes Steve with a smirk oh boy Steve blushed yeah he was so into her. We drove off leaving the others to run.

Once all of the men had returned Peggy had them doing press ups taunting them if they were not good enough I walked over to where dr erskine and colonel phillips were talking "doctor, colonel" I nodded to them both"dr hart"colonel nodded back "sir look I don't want to seem out of place but I think I have a idea on who the choice could be"I spoke slowly"really who"as if dr erskine reads my mind he spoke "mr rogers" I nodded the colonel laughed "ok I let it slide when you bought a 90 pound asthmatic on to my camp I thought ok he might be useful to use as your Guinea pig but I never thought you would pick him" he sternly said "but why not he is no less braver or strong willed as the others is this not supposed to make a man stronger give him a chance"I defended Steve"she's right he is the clear choice"dr erskine said with his German accent. We neared the men who all carry on with star jumps"if you stick a needle in him it will go right through look at him he is making me wanna cry" we all looked at a tierd Steve I winced but was determine"I am looking for qualities beyond the physical"dr erskine said "Steve is kind he's brave he is willing to take a beating from a guy twice his size if it means standing up for what he believes" I retorted. Colonel went on saying how hard it was to get a chance at this project how others were more fit "he may have past the tests but brave men always win hodge is a bully and sure we win with guns but it's the brave men willing to fire those guns that we need watch"i say sarcastically knowing full well it's the man not the weapon I walked over to a pile of dead Grenades and pulled it letting it lose "grenade" the colonel yelled all men scatted away from it while Steve jumped on it telling everyone to stay back"brave"I said before walking away.

Later that night I walked towards the cabins where the soldiers stayed "doctor"a commander nodded at me as I past I smiled gently back. Walking into the cabin it was filled with loud men all joking and laughing about all going silent as they noticed my presence "as you were"I nod to the men walking over to Steve who sat alone on his bed "hey"I smile at my best friend "wanna take a walk"I ask he smiles lightly and nods.

We walked aimlessly around the camp "have you been avoiding me?"Steve asks I laugh gently "not intentionally, like you I've been busy it's hard being a doctor who also happens to be a woman surrounded by narrow minded men"I smile lightly "no ones giving you any trouble are they?"Steve asks puffing his chest slightly making me giggle "no I can handle myself Steve I actually wanted to ask about you, I'm still mad you have actually gone through with enlisting but I know this means a lot to you I'm just worried about what happens when your training is up and you get shipped off to god knows where and possibly killed"I admit "I'll be okay I can handle it"he smiles up at me "I've been working closely with these people they call themselves the SSR you may have heard of them not many people outside my field really have so maybe you haven't"I start "oh what have you been doing with this SSR group"Steve says interested "I can't tell you not yet I want to but just know if it works out I'll feel better about you being our in the field"I sigh "you've been working with doctor erskine?"he says as more of a statement "partly yeah he's a smart man I've learned a lot from him"I announce "you heard from buck?"Steve asks as we come to a stop having made a full circle around the cabin area "not yet I'm sure he's busy like us two, I'd get some sleep Steve you'll need it"I say patting my friend on the back before walking towards my own cabin at the other end of the area.
