I’m at my first game of my professional hockey career the score is 2-2. I need to win this faceoff. I can do this. Next thing I remember I’m hugging my team, the Chicago Blackhawks. We just scored thank you Jonathan Toews. We won the game. Here I am in the dressing room celebrating and I feel like I just won the Stanley Cup. Now we celebrate at our team meal feeling great that we just won the 20th game of the season.

Next, we all get on the plane that night and know flying back to Chicago to face Colorado. We now have to win this game I think to myself. Oh, and my name Abby and it has only been my dream to play for the Chicago Blackhawks. Well back to the story, on the plane “ Hey, Abby” I hear and it was Patrick Kane “ Your not that bad for a girl.”

“Well your not that bad for a boy” I said trying not to laugh “But I was the lead goal scorer and won more face-offs than any one in my league in high school in the men’s league. So I guess I'm not that bad for a girl."

“ Leave her alone,” said Jonathan Toews.” She plays good just like you and me of course.”

“ Fine, I will,” said Kane.

Now I try to get some sleep while I dream about how I just played tonight. I wake up at the 3:00 am to load off the plane and I go to my house to get more sleep.

The next morning, on the way to the morning skate Marion Hossa greeted me. “ You up for the challenge of coach Quenvilles morning skate.”

“ I sure am and I’m used to it,” I said.

“ Well, good luck,” said Hossa.

“ I’ll try my best,” I said.

We all went into the locker room and got into our practice jerseys. At the morning skate I scored and I then went and smashed up against the boards. I guess I’m not that smart sometimes. So I last remember that I’m in the locker room on the floor and everyone is crowding around me. And then everyone likes “ Are you ok you kind of smashed into the glass hard.”

“ I’m fine guys, I can still play, I promise” I said not really sure I was though.

“ Okay,” said coach Q (which is coach Quenville but just shortened.)

Then we all went to the meal room to have our team lunch. Usually I sit alone but today Kane and Toews came to sit with me. “What do you to want because I'm hungry,” I said sounding too serious like I wanted it to.

“Really, we cant just sit and eat I do know how to be respectable at times,” said Kane.

“Yeah geez your hard to work with. Are we that bad,” Toews said.

“I know but I don’t know you guys that well so its my defense technique I’m not used to guys being this nice well nice enough,” I said slowly.

“Wow no ones ever said something so nice to me,” said Kane.

“Don’t flatter yourself Kaner,” I said sarcastically.

“Now that’s never been said,” said Toews.

“First time for everything. And by the way who’s going to score first tonight on the ice and what period,” I said trying to keep my self occupied.

“Well I think it will be me because I'm awesome like that,” said Sharp as he butt in to our conversation.

            “Sharpie you might,” I said.

“I’ll never get the puck from these two they do almost anything to not let me score,” I say as I stare at Patrick and Jonathan.

“You may just be right about that, “said Sharp as Kane and Toews start to laugh.

“It was a nice talk boys but I’ll see you in awhile,” I said as I got up.

I went home to take a nap. About an hour and thirty minutes into my nap. I got up and went to get clothes and then went to the United Center. I went to the player lounge and got into my jersey and paddings.

Later on during the first period somebody on the other bench goes  “So this league has failed they let girls play now.” I wanted to say something but I decided to not to because I could hurt him much more on the scoreboard then I could with words. So I went out on my next shift and scored as I paraded around I saw the other team arguing with the referee to make up an excuse like “Didn’t you see Toews knock around the goalie.” While other players just stood or sat and stared as I went to the bench and squeezed in. Toews was like “ Nice goal.”

“Thanks for the support we all know I don’t have much back up,” as I look over at the other team as they skated back to their bench shamefully. Coach Q patted me on the back.

We won the game 5-3 that night. Then later we all went home to sleep. We have a game on Wednesday in three days. So I think I can get plenty of sleep.
