Shadow started to go out more so most if his time was spent at work. Shadow was rarely at the house and when he was, he was ignoring Sonic.
Sonic tried everything to get his ukes attention but nothing. Even if Sonic asked or said the simplest thing, he got nothing. Once he just said a simply 'hi' but all he got was the cold shoulder.
"Shadow!" Sonic said as he grabbed him into a bear hug. "Shadow! Shaaaddddooooowww!" Sonic said. "What?!" Shadow asked, knowing if he didn't answer then Sonic would just continue. "How come you ignore me all the time. It's been a week since you've talked to me, you won't even say hi. And its been a week since I've--"
Shadow put a hand over his mouth before he could finish. "You better not say what I think your gonna say!" Shadow growled. Sonic removed his hand so he could talk again. "Ok, I won't. But why are you ignoring me?" Sonic asked. "Cause I can't go to work tired everyday because of you. And you don't take me serious the slightest bit. You only think of one thing all the time. I can't stand it." Shadow said. Sonic nodded. "Ok. I promise not to do you all the time. Just most of the time." Sonic said. "Hah! Not happening. No. Not most of the time." Shadow said as Sonic sighed. "Ok. I won't do it most of the time, just......sometimes." Sonic said.
They were now seated on the couch. "We should so somewhere, I'm bored." Sonic said as he laid his head in Shadows lap who had his legs criss-crossed. "Yeah. All I've been doing lately is work." Shadow agreed as he started to pet Sonics head. "At least you've been out, I've been stuck in here all day." Sonic purred. "But you chose to be here all day." Shadow pointed out. "I think we should go to the park." Sonic thought and Shadow nodded. "Let's go." Shadow said. Sonic got up followed by Shadow and they left.
The two walked side by side talking. "People are still the same except they just aren't doing it as much anymore." Shadow said as he held Sonic's hand. "What do you mean? What do they do?" Sonic asked. "They all come rushing to me when I enter somewhere like a room or just walk up to me unexpectedly. They're always trying to give me gifts or take me out, sometimes they get straight to the point and tell me they want to --"
Shadow was cut short when someone tugged on his tail. Letting out a little yelp, he turned around swiftly as he let go of Sonic's hand. A purple wolf stood there. "Hey cutie. What about you and me --!" The wolf didn't get to finish as Shadow grabbed him by his light purple chest fur. The wolf had amber eyes and white shoes. "Do it again and see what happens!" Shadow hissed. "I already want you more." The wolf said. "What's your name? I'm Kevin." Kevin asked as Shadow rolled his eyes. "Nice to meet you Kevin, I'm 'going-to-kick-your-ass-if-you-don't-stop'." Shadow growled "You sure? That's a lot of big talk for a uke." Kevin said but it just added more fire. "If you know I'm taken then why do you continue?" Shadow asked as his eyes narrowed. "Because I'm pretty sure you've had --!" Shadow slapped him. "Wanna try again?" Shadow challenged.
Sonic was dragged away by the hand by Shadow as he kept looking back. "Geez Shadow. You beat the shit out of him." Sonic pointed out. "I told him to stop." Shadow shrugged. "And you were standing right there Sonic. You didn't do anything." Shadow said as Sonic looked down with pinned ears. "Sorry. I thought you had it handled and I thought you'd probably get upset if I said anything." Sonic admitted. "I mean, yeah, maybe sometimes. But I'm not going to always do that and it was like it didn't even matter to you. Then that'd give me an impression that I'm just a toy for you." Shadow said. "But your not. Your my uke." Sonic said as they sat on the edge of a water fountain. "And what does that mean to you?" Shadow asked. "I'm not good at words." Sonic said. "Then maybe tell me how important I am? Just anything about how you feel." Shadow said. "I suck at this so don't judge me." Sonic said as he pointed an accusing finger at Shadow. "Ok. Ok. I won't. Just say something." Shadow insisted. "Your my soul mate. My other half. My perfect other, and we fit perfectly together. You have everything I don't have. Your my precious, beautiful, mysterious, blood red rose. Your my shiny, rare, amazing, dark pearl. Your my lover and one and only." Sonic said as he looked at the sky. "Are you a poet or something now?" Shadow joked as they laughed. "Hey! You said you wouldn't judge!" Sonic said as Shadow nodded. "Ok. I won't. But if you were then you'd have to be my favorite." Shadow purred. "Are you a cat now or something?" Sonic kidded. "No." Shadow answered as he shook his head. They leaned in, about to kiss until someone grabbed Shadows waist from behind.
Shadow froze at the feeling of someone wrapping their arms around his waist. Shadow growled as he turned around but before he could see anything someone pulled him back and into their lap. "Let me go!" Shadow yelled as he struggled in the persons grip. "Hey! Let go of my uke!" Sonic shouted as he tried to grab Shadow. "Go get your own!" The person yelled back. It was a pink cat with green eyes. He had a matching green coat and shoes. "He is my own!" Sonic argued. "Hey! He said to let him go!" The three turned to see a dark brown hedgehog with hazelnut eyes, he wore dark purple shoes. You could see he worked out a bit. The pink cat let go of Shadow before running off. The hedgehog grabbed Shadows right hand and pulled him to his feet. "Your pretty cute. What's your name? I'm Eric." The hedgehog said as he put the other hand around Shadows waist and pulled him close to his own. He spun Shadow around who was blushing a little. "Shadow." The dark hedgie answered. "Really? Matches you perfectly." Eric said as Shadow smiled a little. Sonic stood off to the side, boiling with jealousy.
'He just grabs Shadow and now he's got him blushing and everything, it hasn't even been 10 minutes! They don't even know anything about each other! This Eric guy done as much work as I did in just three minutes while it took me months! Shadows all googly eyes for him now!' Sonic thought. Shadow laughed at everything Eric said as they kept the position they were in. "You want to know a secret?" Eric whispered as Shadow nodded. "I'm in a secret ninja group. There's a chameleon in our group and he's like the best." Eric said as Shadow thought. "Really? I have a friend named Espio and he's a ninja too. Do you know him?" Shadow asked. "Yeah, that's him. What do you think about ninjas?" Eric asked. "Mmmm.....I think ninjas are cool. I think I could probably be one. But right now I'm a G.U.N. agent. But I'm the best." Shadow said as Eric smiled. "That's awesome." Shadow nodded. Sonic walked over and grabbed Shadows other hand. "Well this agent and proably-in-the-future ninja has to go. He's already taken. Let's go Shadow." Sonic said as he pulled Shadow away. Shadow waved a good bye before leaving. Eric did the same as he made a gesture of a phone and whispered. "Call me." And handed him a piece of paper.
They walked in silence as Shadow could feel the intense atmosphere. It had been a few, long, agonizing minutes since they had bumped into Eric and a while ago Shadow had thrown his phone number away. "Sonic." Shadow finally said. Sonic just ignored him and kept walking. He said he didn't like how the other guys came up to him and did what Eric did but Shadow was perfectly fine it being only Eric. Why? Maybe cause he had muscles? "Sonic?" Shadow asked as he grabbed his left wrist which Sonic held onto harder. "Sonic! Stop ignoring me! Your hurting my wrist!" Shadow said as he tried to pull away. "Let go! SONIC!" Shadow yelled as he finally pulled away. He stumbled to the ground as Sonic just stopped. He turned and looked at Shadow who wobbly got up and put his right hand on his knee. He looked ready to collapse as his legs shook violently. Finally he stood up straight, putting the right hand on his left wrist. He looked ready to cry almost as his lip quivered slightly and his eyes turned glossy. His glove was missing and so was his inhibitor ring, there was a mark of where it once was in his left wrist. "Shadow." Sonic said as the dark hedgehog just looked at his wrist and ungloved hand. Sonic looked down at his own to him clenching the glove. He looked around on the ground to see it was at his feet. Picking it up, Sonic looked at Shadow. "Shadow?" Sonic called again.
Shadow quickly looked up with anger in his eyes as he looked ready to kill someone. Shadow then took off his other glove and took off his inhibitor rings. "I wish you let me stay DEAD!" Shadow yelled at him before running off. Sonic locked at Shadows retreating form before quickly grabbing the other glove and rings. "What'd you do to Shadow you jerk?" Sonic turned around to see Eric. "None of your business. Now leave him alone, he's my uke." Sonic growled. "He doesn't look to happy to be with you." Eric stated. "That's because it's your fault, now leave him alone!" Sonic raised his voice as he pushed Eric. Sonic ran off in search of Shadow. Sonic could hear Shadows voice muffled before he saw the explosions and him. "Shadow!" Sonic yelled. Shadow stopped mid sentence. He pulled out a white emerald from his quills and Chaos Controlled away but not without Sonic grabbing his arm.
