A/N: Wow guys! Can't believe how long it's been since I updated this story! I'm soooo sorry! If I forget to update this long again just give me a little nudge!
America's POV:
I stare down at my food at supper, not quite feeling up to eating. I've been sick to my stomach all day and I can't seem to shake it. When I know that I am about to throw up, I quickly stand up and curtsy, hating to be the first one to leave but knowing I'm going to cause a scene if I don't. I meet Maxon's eyes just before rushing out and he tugs his ear with a smile. I tug mine back then hurry out the door. I barely make it to my room before I start vomiting up the little bit of food that is left in me. Anne is the only one around and she takes care of me in her no-nonsense way. She holds my hair back until I've finished and then forces me into a bath. She even goes so far as to help me get my pajamas on because suddenly I feel really really sick.
Soon I'm in bed with Anne gently washing my face with a wet cloth.
"Really Anne... I'm okay... I'm sure it was just something I ate," I try to brush her off but she ignores it.
"Hush. Try to get some sleep."
I sigh but try to close my eyes.Maxon's POV:
My fathers warning rings in my ears for the rest of the meal. What did he mean by that? Was he going to hurt me again? Or worse, was he going to touch America? He can't touch her... He wouldn't... Would he?
I'm desperate to get to America but I know I have to talk to my father first.
When everyone has left the dining hall except for us, I turn on him. "What did you mean by that? You can't choose who I marry... And I won't let you touch America..."
"Maxon, you act like you have a say in this." He glares at me. "I can do as I please and you must obey me because I am your father and more importantly, I am your king. You won't go around disrespecting me by marrying a Five. More importantly, you won't be marrying THAT five. She's trouble. I don't like her. And neither should you... But if you happen to step out of line again... Let's just say that I'll make her want to leave."
The enormity of his words hits me and I just sit there in shock. He can't do that... He can't hurt her.
"And don't you dare go see her. Don't think I don't notice your little signal... You are forbidden to waste any more time on her."
"Father!"
"Stop! This subject is over. Don't bring it up again," he snaps. He stands up from the table and fixes me with a glare before walking out of the dining hall and leaving me with my face in my hands. What am I supposed to do?
