The bus ride back home took hours due to the traffic, but at least we were now at Deaton’s place.
“He won’t allow himself to heal” Deaton said, cleaning Scotts wounds. He winced, flexing his muscle in pain. “Because of Derek’s death”.
“Well what are we supposed to do!” Allison said, pacing around the little room a bit. Deaton’s eyes flickered over to me. He waved me over.
“Now Dakota, I want you to try to use your powers.”. I looked at him like he was crazy, how did he know? Whatever. I raised my hand and placed it on Scott’s wound. Closing my eyes I took a deep breath making me relax. I felt coolness leave my palm and hit Scott’s skin. His sigh of relief confirmed it was working.
“Better?” I asked, removing my hand. He nodded and smiled.
“Yeah, thanks Dakota.”.
“You-” I was silenced by the ringing of my phone. I quickly pulled it out and answered it not even bothering to see who it was.
“Hello?”
“Meet me outside.” Then the line went dead. I pulled the phone from my ear and checked the name, Aiden
I sighed, “I’ll be back”.
--
Aiden was leaning up against the hood of my car, watching my every step as I came closer to him.
“Kitten” His stupid pet name actually managed to bring a small smile to my face. “Now about earlier.”. The smile faded, and was replaced with something more serious. Aiden slid to the side of my car and opened up my door, “Get it”. His eyes held something in them I couldn’t read, yet I did as he said and climbed in.
We were driving for a good ten minutes before he actually decided to speak.
“How should I say this.” Aiden was talking to himself I believe. “Dakota. I uh-”.
“What?”
“Yourmymate”. His words were rushed and quiet.
“What?” I asked tilting my head. He sighed before having his eyes meet mine. “Dakota” One of his large warm hands rested on my thigh, making me squirm a bit under it. “Your my uh- mate.”. Hold up.
“Your what?”
“Mate. My, Aiden’s, Destined mate. We were made for each other.”.
“Oh”. Was all I could say. I was a bit stunned but-
“Thats why you get all tingly when I touch you, or get butterflies when I look at you”. His brown eyes captured mine, proving the butterflies point. “See?”. I nodded shyly, turning my attention back to the scenery in front of me.
“So, I think you should give it a chance.” As I opened my mouth to speak Aiden quickly grasped the back of my head and pulled my face to his, quieting me with another breathtaking kiss. “I’ll swing by tonight”. A cocky grin was plastered on his face, his godlike face, opening up his door before swiftly getting out. I watched dumbfounded as he sprinted away from the car and into the woods. Sighing, I climbed into the drivers seat and shut the door before turning the engine back on and buckling my seatbelt.
