He unlocked the front door to the store and flipped the closed sign to open.

He walked round behind the register and flicked all the switches to turn on the lights.

One of the lights began to flicker uncontrollably, before blowing it's fuse.

Josh sighed, he really wasn't up to fixing anything today.

Suddenly, the store phone began to ring, startling Josh.

He quickly picked it up and mumbled out "SAF Records, what can I do you for?"

"Joshua? Ok, you are at work." His mother sighed in relief.

"Of course I am, why'd you call the store phone?" Josh asked, forgetting he'd left his phone at home.

"Your phone was off, I thought you'd slept in. But you haven't. Which is good." She said, trying to keep conversation.

There was a drawn out silence as Josh wasn't sure of what to say.

"Well, your father and I will be over later today. What time were you going to close?" She asked, the connection breaking slightly.

"Don't know yet, depends if it's busy, or if the snow picks up." He answered, picking up his name tag from under the counter.

"Okay, we'll drive by the store on the way, just in case."

He pinned his name tag to his jumper, not bothering to take it off.

He realised that it was his turn to speak.

"Oh, uh, sure, bye then." He said quickly, before dropping the phone back into place, cutting off his mother.

Great, now he had to cook for his parents and make up a bunch of stories about how busy and exciting his life had been since they'd last seen him.

Which was a lie. Josh never did anything really, other than work.

He unpinned his name tag and put it back under the counter, before quickly leaving the store, running across the street to a nearby organic food market.

He'd forgotten to lock the front door, but it was fine, he wouldn't be gone long enough for anyone to notice.

Or so he thought.
