(Vic)

I was in Jaime and my room getting ready for the day. I looked out the window to see Effy walking to the bus, but first she threw her breakfast into the trash can. It looked untouched. Not wanting to go to school, not eating. I was starting to get really concerned. I needed to talk to Jaime about this, an if on cue he walked into the room.

"Jaime, I need to talk to you." I said worriedly

"What is it Vic?" He asked somewhat concerned.

"When was the last time Effy ate?" I asked

"I made her breakfast this morning. she took it with her to the bus." Jaime said confused.

"No she didn't eat it. I saw her throw it out before she got on." I told him

Jaime's face grew pale. I could tell that he was worried about her. I was worried too, however Effy and Jaime have that special 'father/daughter' connection, while I'm more like a mother.

*buzz buzz*

My phone vibrated.

"Hello...What wrong?...Is she okay?! I'm on my way, thanks!"

"Who was that?" Jaime asked

"It was Effy's school nur-" Before I could say anymore Jaime made his way to the car.

*15 minutes later at the school*

We walked into the nurses office and saw Effy on one of the cots. She looked so pale an her face was all bruised.

"What happened?" Jaime spoke up.

"I honestly don't know. the janitor found her lying on the floor after the homeroom bell rang." She informed us.

Jaime picked her up, thanked the nurse, and left the school.

*At home* (Jaime)

As soon as we got home I carried Mari to her room.

'She felt so light... Maybe she hasn't been eating...' I thought frowning to myself.

I laid her on her bed and Jasey Rae (our dog) hopped on Mari's bed cuddling up next to her to keep her safe. I smiled at that. Vic lightly knocked on the doorframe. he gestured me out of the room.

I lightly kissed Mari's forehead and made my way to Vic.

"How are we going to go about this Jaime?" He stammered.

"I don't really know... I guess we have to ask her what happened and then get to the not eating part later." I suggested.
