Chapter 18

Abigail's pov
Derek opens the back of the van and is immediately met with a berserker. It throws him on the ground and then throws him down onto a rock wall. It beats him and stabs him with one of its antler daggers. Braeden shoots it enough to chase it off and then runs to check on Derek. He falls onto the ground. Peter rushes forward and slides to a stop. Stiles gets out of the van, stunned.
"How bad is it?" Peter asks.
"I'm fine, I'm fine," Derek says too quickly.
"Just get to Scott. Just find him. We'll be right behind you. Go. Go!" Derek said
Peter is the first to leave. Malia, Liam and I linger behind Stiles, but then also leave.
"Okay, everyone stop, stop, stop, stop, stop. We gotta figure out where we are, then we gotta figure out how to find Scott and Kira." Peter said as we ran through La Iglesia. Then a phone rung.
"How do I even have service...Hi, Dad. Okay, Dad, I know you're angry......Okay, well, when I get back, you can ground me....You want me to lie? Lydia...She was at the school when we called Mason to look for her, but now we're not hearing back from either of them..... I don't know, Dad, I don't know what I'm doin'....You know, I'm just... I'm trying to save my friends... Dad, if it's one of the Berserkers at the school, you're gonna need firepower. A lot." Stiles said into the phone before hanging up.
"What do we do now?" Liam asked
"Duck. " malia said. A berserker attacks and they run further into the ruins.
"Go back. Get back!Go! Go, go, go, go!" Peter said
Derek's pov
"Can you still pull a trigger?" Breaden asked me
"Yeah." I said
"All right. Stay with me. You're gonna be okay.It's a mortal wound." Breaden said
"And right now I'm feeling pretty mortal." I said
"I'm not gonna let you die." Breaden said as we hear Growling in the distance
"Eh, you might just have to concentrate on saving yourself." I said Braeden takes her shotgun and goes to have a look. She glances down a street but doesn't see anything, then checks in with Me. I motion for her to look again, and this time she sees Kate and a berserker. Braeden pumps her shotgun and prepares for a fight.
Lydia's pov
In the school, Mason and I are pressed side by side against a wall, hiding.
" I don't hear it." I say softly talking about the berserker that's following Mason and I.
"Come on." I said
"No, no.There's only one way out on this side of the basement." Mason said
"I know.But if we don't get out of here, someone's going to die." I said
"How do you know that?" Mason asked
"I just do.We have to at least see if he's blocking the exit." I said as we walk to the exit. Mason and I lean out to see if the berserker is blocking the exit, and the berserker walks into view.
"Yeah. He's blocking it." Mason said
Stiles pov
Peter, Abigail, Malia, Liam and run into the main room of the temple. Malia tosses me Kira's sword
"Go find Kira and Scott.Go!" Malia says to me.
Breadens pov
I empty shots into the berserker. When my shotgun runs out, I switch to pistols. It doesn't slow down and grabs me by the throat, holding me up in the air.
"How much did they pay you?" Kate asks me
"Way more than you're worth." I said Kate smiles, then hears engines coming up behind them. Two vehicles pull into view, carrying the Calaveras. A third pulls up with Parrish and Chris Argent. Parrish shoots from the driver's seat, while Chris gets out with an automatic rifle. Kate and the berserker run. The Calaveras give chase, running by Braeden.
Stiles pov
I search the tunnels for Scott and Kira
"Scott? Kira?" I call turning a corner I see kira
"Are you okay?" I asked
"It's Scott. Stiles, it's Scott." Kira said
"What?" I asked
"The Berserker. It's him. Kate did it." Kira said
"What are you talking about?" I asked
"She made him into one of them. I don't know how, but it's him. If they don't know it, they could kill him." Kira said
"That's why Lydia's not here. They won't know they're killing Scott." I said in realisation.
Derek's pov
The Calaveras drive Kate and the berserker back toward Braeden's van. I am still alive, watching the fire fight. The berserker takes out a few men while Kate runs for cover. Braeden checks on Me again. I turn to her and try to smile as I look at her, but then I close my eyes and die.
Lydia s pov
I find a basket of bats. I pick one up.
"Are you serious?" Mason Hewitt asks.
"Very."I said
"Baseball bat? Against that guy? Thing? Or whatever it is?" Mason asked
"My friends are in trouble. And so is Liam, your best friend. They need me. I'm going for it." I say. I take the metal bat and marches toward the berserker. Mason Hewitt suddenly comes running passed me, yelling, and takes a swing. The berserker backhands him, throwing him all the way down the hallway. I take my shots, and then I too gets smacked down the hall. The berserker starts coming for them.
"Excuse me," the Sheriff says suddenly. "Catch." He throws something at the berserker, and it catches it. It's a claymore mine. Mason Hewitt and I take cover, and then the Sheriff blows the mine. The berserker explodes into dusk and pieces instead of meat and blood splatter. The Sheriff picks up the skull and pours some of the dust off of it.
Abigail's pov
"Take him. Aim for the skull!Kill it. Kill it now!" Peter says to malia.Malia raises the dagger, ready to stab, when Stiles runs in
"No, wait, wait. Malia, wait! It's Scott. It's Scott." Stiles yells. They stop. Scott throws both Peter and Liam off and then punches Malia. He goes after Liam
"Scott? Scott, don't!" Kira says
"Scott, it's me." Stiles says standing in front of Liam. Scott backhands him, knocking him down. I can only watch as Scott picks Liam up and holds him against a column. Scott is about to punch Liam
"Scott, Scott, listen, listen, listen! You're not a monster! You're a werewolf! Like me." Liam says. Scott lowers his arm. He blinks and stumbles back and then starts trying to get the armor off. He tears away everything, then breaks the skull apart to remove it. Scott is shifted into a werewolf with his eyes glowing as he breaks the spell.
"Liam" I say running over to hug him.
"You. The only one who knew as much as Argent about Berserkers. About the Nagual. You taught Kate. You helped her. All for power." Scott said looking at Peter. Liam and I pulled away from the hug. Liam placed me slightly behind him and held my hand.
"For my family's power. To be rightfully inherited by me. Not usurped by some idiot teenage boy, so incorruptible, he won't shed the blood of his enemies even when justified."You don't deserve your power.Not power like this." Peter said his eyes glow blue, and he shifts. He roars at Scott, and Malia attacks him, but he knocks her down with one punch.
"Oh, sorry, sweetheart, we'll talk about this later." Peter said to malia. Kira swings her sword and gets ready to attack
"Kira!" Scott says calling her off.
"You were my Beta first, Scott. It was my bite that changed your life. And my bite that can end it." Peter said.
"Then, end it, Peter. Because you won't get another chance." Scott said They roar at each other and attack.
