Chapter 16

Liam's pov
I get the ball and I'm making a good run, but Brett knocks me down with a brutal and illegal hit.
"What the hell did you do that for?" I asked
"Because you're afraid. I can smell it on you from across the field. Are you hurt? " Brett asked
"No." I said
"Are you still alive?" Brett asked
"Obviously." I said
"Then get up." Brett said
"You good to play? You planning on pulling something like that again?" The referee asked
"Only if I have to." Brett said before the referee blows the whistle.

Brett finds Abigail and I in the locker room
"You okay?" Brett asked
"We lost." I said. Causing Abigail to rub her hand up and down my back in comfort.
"But you're okay, right?" Brett asked
"Why'd you do that? Why'd you help me?" I asked
"Because of Scott. He saved me. He saved all of us. Do you know how lucky you are?" Brett asked
"What do you mean?" I asked
"Scott's a True Alpha. That means he didn't get his power because he was born with it. He didn't get it by stealing or killing someone. He earned it. You're not strong just because you can lift a lot of weight now. You're strong because you endure. Satomi calls it strength of character. You're lucky to have him." Brett said leaving Abigail and I in the locker room.
"Then why isn't he here?" I asked myself.
"I'm here, theres nothing to be worried about Liam I'll protect you from everything" Abigail said
"I should be protecting you" I said
"Your new you'll get use to it than you can protect me. Besides I was born this way it's only right that I get to protect you" Abigail said. I smiled at her softly grabbing her chin and pulling into a kiss.
"How'd I get so lucky?" I asked pulling away
"Ive been asking myself that same question everyday since I came to beacon hills" Abigail said.
Stiles pov
Dad and I arrive at Derek's loft to find Derek and Braeden looking around the mayhem. All the lights Scott put up were broken everything in the loft was messed up.
"What the hell happened?" I asked
"It was supposed to be a date." Derek replied
"They were both here?" I asked
"And they're both gone. " braeden said just as my cell phone vibrates in my pocket.
"Hey." I said
"Scott's been taken." Lydia said through the phone
"Scott and Kira." I corrected
"We just don't know where." I said
"Mexico. And if you want to save his life, that's where you're going too. " Deaton said through the phone, o guess I'm on speaker.
Kate's pov
I had Scott strapped down and wrapped in wolfsbane, on the berserker altar. Waiting for him to wake up when he finally did I spoke.
"Tell me, Scott. They ever teach you the myth of Artemis and Actaeon in school?" I asked. I waited for an answer but all I got was silence, so I take that as my answer
"No? I didn't think so. Well, Artemis was a goddess. And Actaeon was a hunter that happened to see Artemis bathing naked one day. This did not make the goddess too happy. In fact, she was so angry, Artemis turned Actaeon into a deer and this sent his own hounds into a frenzy. He was actually torn apart by his own hunting dogs." I said picking up a berserker helmet
"What are you doing?" Scott asked. I chuckled at him.
"I'm not gonna turn you into a deer. But you are about to become something unrecognizable to your friends. They won't know what they're fighting. Or killing." I said
"Kate, hold on..." Scott says as he sees me coming closer to his face with the mask.
No, Kate, no. No, Kate. Don't. No, no. No! Wait. No, no! Kate, don't! No! Stop! Wait, no!" Scott begs me to stop, but I put the mask on him anyway, he screams and I know it's working.
Kiras pov
I wake up in the dungeon on top of bones. The door to my cell is open, so I go to investigate, calling Scott's name warily. I can't see so I feel my way down the passage, not noticing a berserker hiding in an alcove. I see what looks like a way out, but as soon as I start to hurry toward it, I see a berserker blocking my path. I turn to go back, but the other one is right there. He grabs me as I scream and slams me against the wall. As we struggle, I see the tattoos on the berserker's arm and realizes that it's Scott.
"Scott?" I ask breathing raggedly.
He throws me to the ground but stops at the sound of Kate's growl.
"I'm going to have to do a better job of covering that up." Kate says.
"What did you do to him? " I asked
"How. That's... That's the better story. You see, when I first got away from the Calaveras, I had no idea where to go. But something kept pulling me here, to the temple of Tezcatlipoca. His name means "smoking mirror" and this place is a temple of the smoking mirror" Kate says dragging her fingers along a slash mark on the wall.
"Obsidian.When I got here, I found the Berserkers waiting for me. They helped me survive. I didn't know quite why until just recently. Until I decided to trust someone I never thought I'd trust. It was then that I found out I could not only control the Berserkers, but I could create them. They call me La Loba. "The Bone Woman." We let you out because I needed to test his loyalty." Kate said
"Did you know that Scott became an Alpha without having to kill anyone? He's been through quite a lot without ever having to kill." I said
"I think it's time to change that." Kate said. Scott then pulled an antler off his outfit and starts walking over to me.
"No, Scott.No, Scott, no." I said backing up. Scott grabs me and stabs me in the stomach with the antler as I gasp.
Stiles pov
Sheriff Stilinski closes his office door and turns to me.
"You are not going to Mexico." He says.
"Dad, Scott and Kira have been kidnapped and taken to Mexico. Okay? I think that's a pretty good reason for a trip to Mexico." I said. Dad Inhales loudly.
"Okay Even if Deaton is right about this..." Dad said
"Yeah." I said
"The best thing to do is to go through the proper channels." Dad said
"Dad..." I said annoyed
"That means calling the right law enforcement agencies, border patrol, putting out an all-points." He said
"Dad, I can't just wait around for the wheels of bureaucracy to start spinning in five different government offices. Okay? Someone needs to go down there right now, find them and rescue them. I'm going." I said
"I can keep you from going." Dad said
"I'd find a way." I said
"I can throw you in a cell." He said just because he's the sheriff. That's so unfair.
"I'd still find a way." I said causing dad to sighs
"Stiles, please.Just give me a little more time to verify something slightly more concrete than a psychic vision by some guy with a third eye!Look, I will call every law enforcement agency all the way down to South America if I have to. If nothing turns up, then I'll book two flights to Mexico We'll both go. Okay?" Dad said
"Okay, okay, great. Do I get a gun?" I asked
"No" dad said.
