"I was a Christian for as long as I can remember. I loved God, wanted to be a light for him and gave him my life. He was everything to me.
It wasn't until I began to suffer from severe anxiety, heartache, suppression and a loss of joy that I began to realize something was not quite right about what I was believing. I also began to realize that the very things Christianity promises - apart from salvation - are nothing but mere lies and false hopes. The faith claims to bring many perks and blessings:
Love From God
Supernatural Healing
Supernatural Joy
Destiny and Plan
Hope
PowerI cannot help but realize that none of these ever truly manifested within my life" (exchristian.com)
Now yes Christianity does claim those things so I'm going to take these one at a time in the paragraphs below
Starting with love from God, this is certainly promised in the Bible, take for example probably the most famous verse on the Bible John 3:16 (for God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life) however some people just don't see it because the definition of love is wanting the best for someone but some people are mad because God is not their own personal genie like they want him to be. And I mean we all want a personal genie I mean that would be awesome but we should know that it's not realistic so God certainly loves us
Next we look at supernatural healing which I've always had trouble with because of people like Benny Hinn with all these fake healings but there are cases of God being able to heal with "supernatural powers" such as John 9 1-7 "And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing" so this does happen extremely rarely and really not today but it could happen today. But it's not particularly promised as exchristian.com says.
Next we look at supernatural joy now this isn't really promised in the Bible at least anywhere I can find (if anyone can find it tell me and I'll update this) but if we are Christians we will eventually end up being happy but everyone goes through a rough patch in their life
Destiny and plan is up next and yes God does does have a plan for our lives but as stated in the previous paragraph we can still go through rough patches and have problems with drugs alcohol depression and so on and so forth
Next is hope now we should all have hope as if we are Christians we will go to heaven so we should have hope and as this is promised in quite a couple passages such as
Joshua 10:25 Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous." now this obviously promises that there's hopeLastly we have power now this isn't promised at all there are cases of it such as with Sampson and his hair which gave him incredible strength however it isn't promised
So in closing this is no reason to abandon Christianity as half these things aren't promised and the other half are promised but not an the way some people would think.
