Padmé hadn't laid eyes on or even talked to Anakin over the past week or so, and Anakin suspected why and what happened. She'd probably had flashbacks, like the Council had warned him about. Darth Vader flashbacks. Anakin's turn-to-evil-flashbacks.

Anakin was still living at the house, just mainly confined to his room, thinking. He also spent a lot of his time communicating with his co-workers. Many times they would have helpful advice for him, and after all, they had been the ones encouraging him to go on and exacted the mission.

Anakin wanted so badly to explain this to Padmé, to make her believe -- but he had a strong feeling it wasn't going to be that easy.

But it was okay, because he had a plan.

He would take her out to dinner, a nice, formal dinner, just for the purpose of talking over some stuff, to get everything straight. Hopefully a while into that conversation, she would warm up to him again and tell him what really happened a week ago after she had apologized to him about being rude or whatever else.

Yes, he would do just that.

Anakin watched and waited out the window when Padmé first arrived home that evening. No later that thirty seconds after she walked in, Anakin approached her, clearing his throat to catch her attention. She looked up and gasped at his appearance. "Anakin," she breathed, with a small smile. "You look...."

"Never mind that," he said, cutting her off quickly. "This suit is borrowed from the dry cleaners'. Don't be too impressed."

She just shook her head, smiling.

"So, madam.... what do you say to dinner this evening?"

"Anakin, that's sweet of you --"

"Go get a dress on. Get fancy. Meet me down here in ten minutes at seven sharp, or you'll be late, miss."

"Okay," she replied, turning and rushing up the steps to her room.

Asking her out was the easy part.

Getting her to talk would be harder.
