Chapter Sixteen - "The Morning Before We Hacked the Security System"

As Anakin and Padmé ate breakfast, they talked everything over, about their plan and all.

"So, how exactly are we going to get into the hub? Break in?" Padmé inquired, a concerned look on her face.

"Well.... yeah," Anakin answered, taking a sip of juice. "There's really no other option. I can hack into the surveillance system by Force, turn the cameras off and shut them down; erase their memory. Then I'll just break in one of the more discreet, less visible side doors, also by using the Force, then enter. It's as easy as that."

Padmé sat closer to Anakin leaning on his shoulder. "Okay, Ani. I just don't want this to go wrong."

"I understand. It won't. You can trust me on that one," he assured her.

She nodded slowly, the concerned look still on her face.

"Listen Angel.... it'll be fine, okay? We'll erase your Earth existence, make a run for the ship, and fly home." He kissed her cheek softly. "And live happily ever after."

Padmé smiled, leaning into him. She looked up at him. "You're the best husband. You know that?"

Anakin smiled as well, shaking his head. "I don't know about that. I've done some pretty mean things over the years."

"Oh, Anakin, please. That was in the past. You were a different person back then."

He hesitated, shrugging. "I don't know, Padmé. I don't think you remember much about the other life. Thanks for thinking I'm so great, though."

"I know that, Anakin. I'll always know you're great."

"Thanks, babe," he said, taking her hand in his gloved one.

"You've never told me why you always wear that glove. Why do you?"

Anakin let out a breath. "It's a long story. I have a mechanical arm as a replacement of my flesh one. My flesh one was severed in a fight." He looked down at his gloved hand, playing with the buckles. "Obviously, as you can see, it's really not my whole arm. Just my hand and forearm connected."

"Can I see it?"

He hesitated.

"Later."

"Later," he agreed with a curt nod.

She met eyes with him. "You know no matter what, I'll always love you to death, right Ani?"

He gave her a small smile. "Yeah, babe. I'll always love you too."
