Chapter Two (Jack's POV again)
Eventually, I had to leave Hiccup and go home.I made the short walk as long as possible, zig zagging and retracing footprints in the snow. But, I made it home. When I walked in, my family was sat around the table. My sister was looking at her lap, my mom was fiddling with her furs. My dad, however, was staring right at me. His black eyes bore into me, trying to tell me that what I did was a sin.
"Sit down, Jack," my mother said quietly as I entered. I did so, hesitantly. My mother and father both looked at me. "I won't have it!" my father cried. I sat in silence, staring at him. "I just won't have it. My only son being a sissy," he leaned in and whispered, "a faggot!" (**a/n pardon my French. I hate that word!**) I looked him dead in the eye. "I am not a faggot, and neither is Hiccup!" He laughed. "That boy is poison! He's a little crippled boy who's luring you down the road to damnation." "Shut up." "Excuse me, what did you just say?" "Did I stutter? I said, shut up!" "I forbid you from seeing him anymore, you hear?" I stood up, the tears threatening to spill. "All I hear is homophobic rubbish," I said, as I backed out, back outside.
I ran. Not towards Hiccup' s house, but towards the woods. I ran and ran, tears streaming, cutting paths into my soiled face. Before I knew it, I was at the pond where Hiccup and I swam in the summer. It was all frozen now. I collapsed into a heap on the banks, now more angry than upset.
After a few minutes, twigs behind me snapped and leaves rustled on the ground. I picked up the nearest stone, and turned towards the noise. "Who goes there?" I called, wiping my nose on my sleeve. "It's me," a familiar voice called. Hiccup emerged carrying big blankets and furs.
"Hiccup," I smiled. "Hey," he said, dropping the load on me. I laughed and shoved them off. "How'd you find me?"
"Well, your father came just about breaking down our door looking for you, so I figured you had left. I also followed your path of destruction here."
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean for him to come after you guys," I groaned, pulling Hiccup closer and under a blanket.
"What's he gonna do? My father is the chief of our village."
I smiled and thought for a few seconds. I wrapped my arms around Hiccup, and he did the same.
We sat like that, giving occasional soft kisses. I shifted. "You should get back, you'll catch hypothermia," I told him. I shoved the blankets towards him. "I'm not leaving with out you," he replied, snuggling in closer. "I'm not going back to my parents' house. Go." He shook his head against me. "Nope, not going anywhere! Come back with me, you can stay with us." I looked at him. "Really?" "Really."
We snuck back to Hiccup's house. It was growing darker by the second. I helped him through his window before jumping up and in. I couldn't see a thing. "Hiccup?" I whispered through the dark. Suddenly, a hand grabbed mine and I was falling into Hiccup. He laughed as I playfully punched him. "Give me a heart attack will you?"
He giggled and snuggled up next to me. I pulled a fur over us, and all was well.
