Chapter Eight (Hiccup's POV)

Jack had frozen in place (**haha funny punny...**). "Jack?" I asked, "tell me that-" "Of course I didn't hurt her, you know I wouldn't dare," he said angrily, cutting me off. "We have to get back, Jack. You said that people can't see you because they don't believe you exist? Well, I think whoever did this wants everyone to see you. Let's go before the angry mob rallies." He nodded, not taking his eyes off the scene, and I flew us back.

We huddled in my room in the dark, waiting to breathe until we hear what happened from my father. Jack's head was under my chin (a feat that would have been impossible a few months ago; he would have had to bend incredibly), with his hand on my arm. He still was blank, but I knew he was thinking, so I let him think.

"You're right," he said, after a long silence. "Whoever killed that girl wants me seen, seen by angry people." I nodded, my chin rubbing his head. "But it can't be anyone," he continued, "It has to be someone, like me, someone not believed to exist, otherwise we would see him." "How does that work? The exist by believing thing?" "I don't really know, one moment I was dead, the next I was awake, only better; I could fly...but no one could see me." I looked at him the best I could, "You can fly?" He laughed.

"Ok, so how do we stop this? Or do we? Do you want to be seen?" I asked. He thought for a moment, and then said, "No, I'm dead. To everyone, but you. You're just special." I nodded. "So what magical being that must be believed in have you pissed off? Do they have a names?" "I don't know, all I was doing before 'You part II' was moping around you, so I didn't interact much." "Well, if you didn't specifically offend someone, they must gain something from this."

Jack ran his hand through his hair an sighed. "I really dunno," he said, "can we just sleep?" He then yawned for added effect. "Sure," I said, yawning too. He swiftly pulled covers over us and burrowed his face in my stomach. I giggled, which disturbed him, so he promptly head butted me.

After a half hour of trying to figure out who might have killed the girl and framed Jack, I fell asleep to the gentle lull of his breath .
