Short plot chapter

ONCE upon a time, there were two boys named Jack and Mark. They were thirteen years old and in middle school. They were best friends - they did practically everything together, went everywhere together.
One day, Mark asked Jack to be his boyfriend, and the Irish boy happily said yes. They didn't think there was a problem with their new titles. They didn't know about being gay or bisexual, they were just simply kids in love and they were happy. Until word got it that two boys were dating.
Mark came from a very rich, very respected catholic family. So when they received a call one Monday morning saying their son was seen holding hands with another boy, they lost it. And maybe that's when their fairy tail became a nightmare. Mark's parents, religious, didn't accept Mark. In fact, they tried to change him. They yelled at him, screamed at him that he wasn't gay, hit him, denied him food and water. They did everything to change their sons mind, to which they believed they could.
However, Mark and Jack promised each other that through it all they'd stay together. Because they were in love, and they truly believed it. If the world was against them, trying to kill them, they'd go together like Romeo and Juliet. Or at least that's what Jack was thinking, because in the end Mark didn't seem to stick to that point.
Because his parents finally got to his head. Mark Fischbach didn't want to be shunned, so he gave up Jack in the simplest, most confusing way.
Once day Mark went to school hand in hand with a girl, one of their classmates. Jack watched, confused as the new apparent couple walked by him in the halls, where earlier Mark would've stopped and spoke to Jack. The Irish boy didn't understand.
Nobody else believed it, though. They didn't believe Mark had suddenly stopped being gay, and so to prove it, Mark kissed the girl right in the lips. Jack also watched this. And he felt like throwing up, because those were his pair of lips and not hers to kiss. Or they had been.
Later on in the day, Jack tried to talk to Mark but Mark ignored him. This went on for the next few weeks, and Jack was left to observe on the sidelines as it began, as Mark Fischbach was suddenly transforming into a cocky, arrogant player who crushed the hearts of both girls and Jack alike. First it started off in small comments, but Mark was talking to Jack - just in a very, very different day.
It started in the cafeteria, when he was pushed into the wall by Mark, who was walking by. "Fag," he mumbled, and those words stung Jack like fire physically singing him, burning him, destroying him. The next time was at recess, and somebody called Mark gay. Mark of course blamed his Irish technical-ex-boyfriend for this, and to prove he wasn't, deliberately approached Jack and pushed him to the ground. Jack didn't try to get up. He didn't understand the sudden change, but didn't question it, because he didn't want to fight Mark.
So it continued. It became a daily occurrence when Mark would push Jack around, getting worse and worse every day. Maybe Jack was an idiot. But he let it hit him full force, both Mark's words and punches.
However, he waited, and hoped. Each day he'd come home with a bloody nose and hide it from his parents, not wanting them to blame Mark for his actions because in Jack's mind Mark could do no wrong. Maybe that's what what it was like to be in love. But regardless, he let Mark do with him, but waited still.
Jack waited for Mark Fischbach - the Mark he knew, the Mark he loved - to come back. In fact, the first few years, he actually believed it would happen. Eventually he gave up, because four years later he stil let Mark do whatever he wanted with Jack. He was mindless.
But still, there was a small part of him, deep inside, that believed Mark Fischbach would change back to who he once was..
