JACK looked back at his Swedish friend as he spoke. "Are you sure you want to do this alone?"

No. That was the first thing he thought - no, he didn't want to go to Mark's house alone because he didn't want to get beat up, which is what would probably happen. And yes, he would like to have a friend with him just in case. But going to the popular boy's house with his friend that wasn't invited? That would probably earn him a fist to the face regardless. He shivered. Then realized Felix was still waiting for an answer, his bright eyes concerned.

"Yeah," he breathed, but with Felix's slight frown he knew he was heard. He could barely speak the lie. "Yeah, I'm fine."

"Right." Disbelief carried in his friends voice.

It was afternoon, three o'clock to be exact, and school was over. Jack and Felix stood outside of the school, on the sidewalk. The blue sky's hue shifted as the clouds passed on with it. Normally, Jack would be walking home by now, but he was on his way to Mark's house - or he was, until Felix stopped him and offered to go with him.

"I promise, nothing will happen. I'll be fine." Jack let out a reassuring chuckle that probably sounded a little too nervous, because he was speaking to himself even though it was spoken to the other boy present. Felix just sighed and looked around.

"Okay.. if anything happens, send me a quick text and I'll call the cops."

"Relax, the only thing that's going to be done is our assignment and I don't think he's going to.. hurt me in his own home. There's nobody there to witness his ego." Felix let out a quiet chuckle as Jack smiled to himself.

"Okay, if your sure.." and then, slowly, they went their separate ways. Jack watched Felix walk away and he felt a sudden pang of regret. Please don't go.

He watched until Felix was tiny on his field of sight, about to disappear over a hill on the sidewalk. Then he realized he probably looked like a fucking idiot, staring after his long gone friend. So he turned in his own direction, and there was nothing else left to do but walk, walk to what was very likely going to be his doom.

When he got to Mark's, nothing surprising or strange or shocking happened. Actually, the normality of the situation was kind of shocking on its own level. Because when Jack shakily knocked the front door of Marks mansion (because what else could you call a structure of that size?) he came to the door moments later.

Mark was wearing sweatpants and a grey shirt. He didn't look angry, or upset or even slightly so. If anything he looked normal. Not like there was a look of acceptance in his dark brown eyes, but they were laid back and he almost seemed to not care of Jack's existence, of the situation at hand.

Jack was sure he was shaking when, heartbeats later, Mark was the first to say anything. It was surprising, because there wasn't the usual venom in his words, but there was a casual disregard in his tone of voice. "Are you going to come in or not?"

"Oh.." It was the first word to come out of Jack in shock, and it trailed off because he probably sounded like a fucking retard. He tried to save himself from his fate. "Um, yeah, sorry." And if the situation couldn't get any more awkward, he let out a chuckle.

Quickly now, Jack walked through the small amount of space Mark made between the doorway and his body, apparently for Jack to enter through. But even as he did this he felt Mark staring at him, and he felt like an intruder to the other male's home, a trespasser - or even a prisoner, because when Mark shut the front door and there was only a dim light remaining to light up the hallway he was standing in, he felt trapped.
