But I'm never going to marry you

But I'm never going to marry you.

Those are the words that played in my head over and over again as Jerome and Pria exchanged vows at the altar. It was so hard to watch. And worse, to watch it with Prince sitting beside me.

We still left the house together. But we weren't speaking. And once again, I didn't understand what he had to be upset about. He was on some serious bullshit.

Once the ceremony was over, and the wedding party followed behind the bride and groom, I saw my mother who was sitting two rows behind me.

When the aisle cleared, I immediately left Prince to go be with her. "Mommy, you look hot," I said as my eyes seesawed her coral evening dress.

"And you look..." She shook her head, laughing. "I taught you better than to wear black to someone's wedding."

"Mykell picked it out. I'm wearing it at her request. Since she had to be a bridesmaid."

My mother laughed. Then she enhanced the size of her small eyes as she caught the attention of someone behind me. "Oh, hello, young man."

I turned and Prince was reaching my side. "Hi, you must be Nahla's mother...or sister?"

"That's not gonna work with me."

And I was waiting for her to crack a smile but she wouldn't.

Prince laughed it off.

And my mother was kind enough to give him a smirk. But the height of her eyebrows still showed she was unhappy about something. "You've been with my daughter for how long now?"

"I know. I apologize. I wish I could've met you sooner."

"You had many opportunities. I feel like you've been dodging me," she sassed.

"Not at all."

"What happened at the engagement party?"

"Umm..." Prince, smiling, turned to me for answers.

And I turned away.

"And we live in the same city."

"To be frank, my home resides in Chanhassen," he said, charmingly. "And I would love to have you over for dinner. You and little Rayan. I know your other daughter is away at college."

My mother sighed and lifted the corners of her mouth. Just hearing the name Rayan always did that for her. "That sounds nice."

It didn't to me. Neither one of them knew just about how done I was with this relationship. "We'll talk about it later, mommy."

"Okay," she said, cutely. "Well, I will see the two of you at the mansion."

Prince slipped his hands in his pockets. "May I ask how you're getting there?"
