"Don't be afraid," Henry soothed gently.

He was currently holding your hand towards his dog's snout. He has already introduced his Labrador, Toothless to you. You couldn't help but jump whenever the dog barked. Henry commanded his dogs to do exercises with you to get used to be around other dogs. He did exercises like Toothless walking next to you at a certain distance, you sitting with Toothless walking back and forth, and even sitting a certain proximity away. This has been going on for a few days, almost a week. When Henry thought you were ready to try something else, he had you trying touching Toothless' snout.

You were sure Toothless was a great dog and all but you were still scarred, literally. You felt your heart race with excitement. You didn't know if it was good or bad. You were scared.

"Henry, I can't," you exclaimed the safety call. Henry immediately lets go of your hand and you scurried away from Toothless as quickly as possible. Your mother stood in another room watching through a window. Henry recommended for her to be in another room since she would most likely make you more anxious. You wouldn't complain.

"Are you alright?" he asked in concern.

"Yeah," you nodded. You held onto your racing heart. "It's just my heart is beating fast."

"Stay, boy," Henry commanded his dog quietly. After leaving Toothless put, Henry led you to the door gently where it lead to the room where your mother and Henry's assistant were waiting for you.

"Are you okay, sweetie?" You felt your mother's hands caress your face.

You took a hold of her hands. "I'm fine, Mom."

"Mrs. [Last name], I would like to try a different approach for [Name]," Henry informed.

"What is it?" your mother asked.

"It's sort of a therapy session, but we'll be providing it."

"Are you licensed?" she added.

"Yes."

"Then, I'm alright with it if my daughter is." You felt your mother rub your upper arms.

"Has it worked before?" you asked timidly.

"Yes," Henry answered, "There's a test we use and it works every time."

"Then, let's see if it works on me."

Your mother and the assistant stayed outside of a room where you knew was cold. It almost felt like a freezer. You would have thought it to be a prison if it were for the soft, leather sofa.

Henry gently pushed you to a couch and warned you to sit as you please.

"Why is it so cold?" you asked shivering while rubbing your arms.

"I'm sorry for the discomfort, but this room was specifically designed for therapy sessions like this. The cold is supposed to bring out the fear," he explained.

"Wait, 'bring out the fear?' I thought you were supposed to cure the fear."

"We can't cure what we don't know," he said, "I understand if you want to back out now."

"No," you shook your head, "I want to do this. I'm tired of being afraid."

Unknown to you, Henry stared at your determination that showed on your facial expression even with your blank stare mixing in with it.

"Alright," Henry started, "I'm going to start asking questions. We'll start off easy. Please, lay back and clear your mind. When you answer the question, don't think and just say your answer off the top of your head."

He started with easy questions what you can only guess to be questions to ease you. Then, he started asking harder questions. You had no problem answering but images flashed in your thoughts that made you whimper. One question in particular triggered you into a breakdown.

"What type of dog you last encountered?"

You curled up in a ball on the couch. You bowed your head and gripped the sides of your head as you cried, "They're all the same!"

Henry immediately stood with attention when he saw your change in actions. He walked to you and try to gently touch your shoulder to snap you out of it. You kicked and screamed away from him. Images of dogs viciously biting into your skin continued to flash in your head. You continued to push away from Henry as he tried to comfort you. You eventually fell off the couch.

As Henry was distracted with you, he didn't notice the door to the room opened only enough for a body to move through. No one stood in the hallway though.

Toothless stayed quiet as he approached you and Henry. He wanted to whine when he saw his master try to handle the troubled girl.

"Get away from me!" you shouted to nothing in particular.

Henry saw his dog not too far away from you and commanded him to leave. "Toothless, leave!" he shouted, "Get away!"

But Toothless ignored both of you and gently pawed at you. Henry watched as you froze when you felt the familiar scratch. You held still in fear, waiting for something else to happen. You were afraid the traumatizing event would happen again, but this time you couldn't see.

When Toothless saw you finally calmed down and recognized his attention, he went in for a more gentler approach. He crawled on his belly and nudged his nose at your fingertips. Your fingers subconsciously twitched and pull away slightly. Toothless saw this as progress and rolled his head so his forehead eventually started rubbing against you.

As you calmed down and the soft fur rubbed against, you started to realize where you were and snapped out of it. You realized a dog was rubbing against you and by the way they whined, you recognized him as Toothless. You very hesitantly put a hand on top of his head. Toothless froze his movements as he laid in success. He suddenly got up causing you to jolt slightly. He barked in happiness once he was a good distance away from you.

"Toothless," Henry called out in warning to calm down. His dog obeyed him as Toothless sat and stared at you.

Henry turned back to you and watched as you sat silently in your own thoughts.

"That was the most success I have ever seen from you, [Name]," he spoke softly.

"You think so?" you asked quietly.

"Yes," he answered, "And I think I found what your problem was. You were afraid to see what other dogs are like because of what you went through. You basically had only a set idea of what dogs were like."

"Yes," you confirmed as you nodded your head.

"Not all dogs are bad, [Name]," he comforted.

"I see..."
