She blinked her eyes open. Looking around, she propped herself up. She wiped the sleep from her eyes and headed downstairs. Helen was cooking breakfast and her grandfather was sitting in the living room, reading a novel. " morgen " called her grandfather. " morgen " replied paris, taking a seat at the table. Helen came in and set a small plate of eggs, bacon, and toast in front of paris. " takk " said paris. Helen simply nodded her head and left the room. Shortly after getting dressed into jeans and a tank top, she sat on her bed and opened the drawer to the nightstand. She reached into it and pulled the mysterious orange scroll out. She grabbed the opening and unrolled it across her bed. The colors on the pages seemed to glow as she saw people performing martial art stances. She saw the people with their animal spirits as they performed their martial arts. She looked at it carefully. She knew this was to teach someone who wanted to learn. Turning her eyes to the bottom, she saw writing in Norwegian. en kriger og deres dyr ånd er ikke to, men en alle sammen. She looked at the page. " a warrior and their animal spirit are not two, but one together " she read out loud. She shook her head mystified. A warrior and their animal spirit are not two, but one together? She leaned in and examined the scroll more closely. Analyzing the first person first, she saw that he was sitting in a meditation position, a aura glowing around him. She brought her head back up. " Helen and grandfather had aura's too, but they also had animal spirits " she murmured to herself. She drifted her eyes to the second person. He was now standing in a fighting stance, but this time he had a green turtle spirit. Before she could continue examining the scroll, she heard her grandfather coming up the stairs. She quickly dropped the scroll into the drawer and closed it. She watches as her grandfather came in. " Ah paris " he greeted her as he walked in. She looked at her grandfather with curiosity. " Paris, how much do you know about our family history? " he asked. " not much, only that our ancestors studied martial arts and could conjure animal spirits and was able to cast elemental magic " she answered, crossing her arms and leaning against the bed frame. Her grandfather cracked a smile. " yes, you are correct " he replied. He pulled up a chair and positioned it next to her bed. " You have already learned Norwegian, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, and Latin, now I believe it's time that you learned to conjure your spirit animal " he said with a serious look on his face. Paris stared at her grandfather. Before her grandfather could continue, helen came running up the stairs. She exchanged her dress for black jeans and a red shirt and black leather coat. She had a cut on her forehead. " we need to leave, Montegar sent his minions " she said gravely.
