"Alright, Snowball is ready to go, Mrs. Fleterton." I said to the neatly dressed elderly Lady who stood before me. Mrs. Fleterton was a regular to my small clinic, always brought in her pet cat, Snowball. Mrs. Fleterton had been rather lonely since the passing of her late husband. She came into the clinic almost every day, seeking company. Nothing was ever really wrong with the pure white, fluff ball of a feline, but I still gave him quick check ups to make sweet, old Mrs. Fleterton happy. Of course, not only did I enjoy Mrs. Fleterton's company, but I also enjoyed the company of Snowball. He was not the kindest animal on the planet, but I always laughed at how over the top this cat was. He was always ranting about how he should have lived in a palace, because apparently, he was a descendent of some kind of cat royalty. I gently handed the white fluff back to his owner with a smile. Mrs. Fleterton happily stood up as she stretched her arms to take Snowball from me. 'No, no, no! I cannot go back with this old woman! I belong in a palace! A palace I say! Have you any idea whom I am!?' Snowball mentally screamed at me. I stifled a giggle as I handed him over. "Oh, thank you so much, Doc! What do I owe you?" Mrs. Fleterton asked with a wide smile on her face. I gently shook my head. "Oh, no! Don't worry about it! Its always a pleasure to tend to this lil' guy." I gushed as I stroked Snowballs snowy white mane. He simply glared at me, 'Filthy peasant, you dare touch me?' I stifled another giggle as I lead Mrs. Fleterton out the front door. "Have a good day!" I called to her as she slowly hobbled down the pavement. After making my way back inside, I heard Maddy mumble, "This is why we're broke." I simply rolled my eyes and turned to the clock. 6:20. I smirked at the thought of seeing Mr. Scamander again. I looked to Maddy as I slid my gloves off, "You're free to head out, Maddy. I'll lock up, okay?". Maddy set down her magazine, picked up her things, and exited the small building. "Good night to you too." I mumble as I head to the back room.

After quickly cleaning up my workspace and making sure everything was in order, I grabbed my coat and exited the front door, locking it behind me. I heard a subtle 'ahem' from behind me. I turned around to come face to face with the mysterious Mr. Scamander. I felt a soft smile pull at the corners of my lips. Newt happily returned the gesture. "How was work?" He asked, seeming genuinely interested in how my day was. I shrugged at Newts question. "Normal. Just like evey other day, really." Newt noded and stood awkwardly for a second, fiddling with the twine rapped around his leather case. How odd. Newt must have seen me eyeing the thin, stringy rope, because he quickly said, "There's a clasp that I desperately need to get fixed." A slight chuckle following after his statement. I gazed up into his eyes and smiled, lightly chuckling along with him. He really did have gorgeous eyes. The only only problem was that gorgeous didn't even begin to describe them. His eyes were just breathtaking. I could've even dared to call them magical. I just couldn't help but stare into his blue-green oblivions as it felt like he stared into my very soul. We both began realize what was going on and quickly looked in opposite directions. Suddenly, I had gotten an idea, "Hey, are you hungry? I can make spaghetti if you'd like." Newt looked at my face for a split second, than directed his vision toward the ground, causing his ginger-brown hair to fall slightly in front of his face. I smiled to myself at how adorable he was. "Sounds great." He replied. My smile grew. "My apartment is this way.", I said, gesturing to the direction of my apartment. Newt noded and joined me at my side as we began to walk.

Unlike our walk to the clinic, the journey home was much more vocal. We talked about random things, animals mostly, but we also talked about our childhoods, where we grew up, and Newt told me a great deal about England. I couldn't help but fantasize about it after Newt had depicted it so vividly. We reached the front door to my apartment and I could already hear the thoughts of my two cats, Sable and Xander. 'Is she home? Is that her?' I heard Sable's soft, sweet voice in my head. 'Like hell if I know. And if it is her, she's not alone. I smell someone else...' The dark, silk-like voice of my other cat, Xander, echoed through my mind. Newt waited patiently behind me as I unlocked the door. Once inside, the two furry animals came running into the room. 'Who's he? He's new! I love new people! Wait... Now that I think about it, you've never brought anyone new home before.' The younger of the two commented. Xander simply examined the male stranger with his bright green eyes. 'I don't like him.' He plainly stated. I smiled at the two beings I called my closest friends. "Hey guys, this is my new friend, Newt Scamander. He's very nice and loves animals." I said to them. Neither looked very entertained. I quickly slipped off my shoes and coat and dashed towards the kitchen, ready to start cooking the delicious meal I promised Newt. "Make yourself at home!" I called
to Newt from the kitchen. Newt slid off his coat and had a seat on the couch in the living room, his case never leaving his side. What's so special about that thing? I thought to myself as curiosity began to take over. I decided to brush off the thought.

I finished the lovely looking Italian dish in no time and began to set the table for dinner. 'What about us?! Are you just gonna let us starve?' Sable panicked. I chuckled at her over exaggeration and filled the two pet bowls with cat food. "It's ready Mr. Scamander!" I called to Newt. "Please, just call me Newt." He said with a smile. I smiled back and noded, "Alright...Newt." His soft smile slightly grew at my pronunciation of his name. Newt slowly makes his way into the dining area, hesitating before taking a seat. "Smells amazing." Newt remarked. A slight blush dusted my cheeks and I giggled. "Thank you."

After finishing dinner, Newt helped me clean up. Than we sat on the couch and chatted for what seemed like hours. Newt was one of the most interesting people I had ever met. He was shy, but very passionate when it came to animals. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but there was something about Newt that intrigued me. He was different from any other man I had ever met, mind you I had only actually met about three. Still, Newt was different. I wasn't too sure how I coups tell, it was just a gut feeling I suppose. I turned my head to the window and let out a small 'oh!'. Newt noticed this and gazed out the window as well. "Its so dark out there, I wonder how late it is." I said, glancing at the clock. 12:05?? It felt like we had been talking for hours because we literally had been! Where did the time go? I mentally asked myself. I turned back to Newt, "I suppose you should get going." I suggested, a slight frown made its way on my face. Newt hesitated. "Uh, right..." I gave him a questioning look. "Newt, do you not have a place to sleep?" He stayed silent as he scratched the back of his head. His cheeks flushed a light pink. I suddenly had an idea. "Hey, Newt?" I asked. Newts eyes shifted to meet mine and I smiled. "This might seem a little inappropriate, but I do have an extra room if you want to stay here. Also, it would be easier to stay in contact with me whilst I make my decision about going with you or not." A shy smirk tugged at Newts lips, "That would be very helpful." My smile grew as I stood from the cushioned couch. "Follow me, please."

It had been about two hours since Newt and I had gone to bed, only I couldn't. Not a single wink. I was too busy debating on whether or not to go with Newt. On one hand, I had my career in Illinois, What career? Good point. What about all my friends? You don't have any friends. Also a good point. Well... What's keeping you here? I wished I knew. Because, the truth was, nothing was keeping me in that raggedy shack of an apartment and pitiful excuse of a small town. Maybe I was just too frightened to leave. But think about all the opportunities. All the good things you could do for the animals that aren't here. I laid still for a minute. Also, you could travel the world with Newt. My heart skiped a beat at that thought. 'I could get to know him better. We could be really good friends!' I thought to myself. Or possibly more? I shook my head at the wild fantasies. 'Come on, I only just met the guy!! Either way, I've made up my mind. Tomorrow morning I'll tell Newt that I'm going with him!'

I gently knocked on the door to Newts room, a plate full of bacon and eggs in my hand. "Newt?" I questioned through the door. 'He must still be sleeping?' I slowly turned the door knob, and entered. 'I'll just leave this here.' I think as I turned to Newts bed, only to find that he was gone. 'In the bathroom maybe?' I turned towards the door, only to suddenly hit my toe against an object on the ground. I winced in pain and held my throbbing foot, hopping around on one leg for a few seconds. My annoyed gaze instantly went to the floor after I had finished nursing my toe. Newts case. Its hinges were unlocked and I felt curiosity bubbling inside me once again. I quickly looked out the door to make sure he wasn't coming back, than I knelt down next to his case. I checked over my shoulder one last time before gently placing my fingers on the case, and slowly opening it.
