Arianna's P.O.V
The day passed lazily as I thought about the chaos happening in my once calm life. I never thought that someone would come after me because I love someone. Dominick was the only guy I ever liked .We were both teenagers but the feelings I had for him were too strong. I swallowed a lump in my throat as I thought about him. I missed him. More than anything.
Claire told me as long as Donovon protects me Dominick will stay with him.I was furious at first but we couldn't do anything against Donovon. Dominick didn't called me and that drove me over the edge with worry.
Claire told me to stay put and relax a little but I saw through her too, she was also worried about him. Dominick told me he felt a brotherly love towards her and she felt the same for him.
I was awake the whole night tossing and turning around with stress and worry. Dominick will never show his pain his stress his worries. He was the type who suffers in silence but at the same time a pro at hiding it
Even if something was killing him inside,he'll behave as if nothing in the world is bothering him. I was missing his voice ,his touch and trying to push back the tears in my eyes when I heard a knock on the door in the middle of the night.
At first I thought it was my mind and fear playing tricks on me but I got startled literally when I heard it for the second time. I saw the wall clock and my brows furrowed in confusion. It was 3:45 .Still too dark. Another knock made my blood ran cold in my body as I shook Claire's shoulder.She turned around slightly opening her eyes heavy with sleep
"What"?? She yawned and I got up instantly
"There is someone at the door" My eyes spotted a baseball bat in the corner of my room and I grabbed it and turned around to look at Claire ,she was very alert now and the look that crossed her face when she looked at the wall clock confirmed my suspicions.
"Stay here" She opened my cupboard and threw all my clothes out and turned around with a silver pistol in her hand. I cringed at the lethal weapons sight but said nothing
"Go to your mother's room, lock the door you understand me" She sounded too mature all of a sudden ,the graveness of her voice startled me out of my trance
I couldn't just leave her alone to risk her life for me in all this .So I voiced my thoughts shaking my head
"No. I am going with you " Meanwhile the knocks on the door got more persistent
"You are going to get yourself killed. I can't be distracted with your safety if I am going to protect you Arianna"
"I am going with you and that's it"
She glared at me for a moment then shook her head
"Fine, just stay behind me" I followed her out of my room ,we went downstairs and we heard another knock
Careful not to wake my mother up I asked lightly
"Who is there" The silence that followed was deafening .Claire and I looked at each other and she motioned me to stay behind her
Another knock...
"Who the hell is there" This time Claire asked in a firm voice and loaded the pistol .We were ready for anything when the lock started to jiggle from outside .Someone was trying to open it and I felt shivers of terror running through me but Claire stood firm on her spot ready to blow the intruders head off. Suddenly it stopped as if no one was trying to open the door from the outside in the first place.
